She was always very healthy until she got Mononucleosis right before all of this started 3 years ago. They have had the house tested for mold twice and nothing shows up (they did a professional cleaning with a company anyways to make sure) She does not have CF (although they do have a vest like they use for CF that took them over a year to get her insurance company to approve )

That is what is making this so scary...this strain of strep just seems to resist any kind of treatment. That is why they are sending her file to the specialist in Virginia to see if they can see something the doctors here are missing.

I forgot to add that she has also recently tested positive for MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) a bacterial infection that is highly resistant to some antibiotics.

Yes, hospital aquired MRSA (not the CAMRSA) is difficult to treat. My Infectious Disease doctor friend predicted 10 years ago that the bugs would eventually win. :( I hope that it is not the case here. Have the done any testing for Histoplasmosis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histoplasmosis)? A fungal infection that can be associated with birds and bird droppings. Although the wiki article indicates that many patients are immunocompromised, I have taken care of a couple of kids who had normal immune systems.

I will keep the co-worker's family in my thoughts. And hopeful that they can find a treatment that works.

Hugs to her and her loved ones! We have the same name (if Jocie is short for Jocelyn).
