I agree 100% ! I saw him live at George Enescu Festival this year and he was atrocious!

:D
I've seen a video of him playing Beethoven Concerto with the Verbier Orchestra...it's so wrong in every sense:o:o no comment!

Not competition, or instrumental, but don't forget Kulik's wonderful version :swoon:

Does this mean Lori Nichol is expanding her musical horizons? :D

I really like that Shostakovich trio, though I wonder if it can work as skating music. Has anyone ever used it? I hope Carolina will do well with it, and with her LP music.

p.s. you need to move the colon outside the url tag or the link won't work.

Very interesting choices, especially the SP! :cheer:
So she's going completely classical? Could be a good idea.

Carolina's not one of my favorites, but I gotta say, good for her. Not nearly enough people skate to Mozart!

I love her music! Shostakovich used that musical theme for his 8th string quartet, which Val Caniparoli used for his ballet, "The Bridge", and an orchestral piece -- can't remember which one; the theme is from a Hebraic song.

I wonder how they'll cut the Mozart? It's a lovely piece, and I think it's great music for her. I hope Lambiel comes in and gives her feedback.

Carolina don't like to skate overused music. She normally chooses something special

I adore Carolina's choices! At the risk of much :lynch:, I;d love to see her put two full difficulty, clean programs and win Worlds this year.

So I've noticed. But IIRC, she's said in interviews that the suggestions come from Nichol, and I wonder why she's usually the only one of Nichol client's to end up with interesting music rather than warhorses.

In case I didn't make it clear in my previous post - I think both choices are fantastic, and I would love to see oleada's hope realized! :cheer2::cheer2:

Absolutely. Carolina is very sophisticated in her music choices, year after year, and when she keeps herself together, it's beauuuuuutiful. I love her Faune from last year. Looking forward to seeing her!

ITA, but then there was the year (2004, I think) she skated to that Vanessa Mae mess that included "Mulan" and "Turandot" along with some other :yikes:tracks.

I did not remember so you sent me chasing ( yup, 2004). But "The Secret Garden" SP made up for it; not the classics, but a good soundtrack IMO, well done by her ( and such a visually beautiful movie, veering totally off the subject).

As for David Garrett- somewhere in the back of my brain he is filed alongside Vanessa May and NOT Edvin Marton.
Marton is anti- music, Garrett is a populist ( young, beautiful and taking advantage of it) :D ( but as I don't listen to any of them I am talking out of my who- knows- what. except the Marton part- he is beyond redeeming)
