I think Kostner has looked more and more elegant over the last two seasons, and "Faun" was a beauty. I'm really looking forward to seeing what she does this season.

The elements were fantastic as always, but the choreography, cutesy posing, and Aliona skating around in a little pink unitard made it seem more like an exhibition than a competitve piece.
For me, it's a good thing. Unfortunately, competition programs that look like competition programs (and I don't mean the difficulty of elements) are often very boring to watch. Again - for me.

Kostner, an extraordinary skater? I beg to differ. Sure, she has great basics, but that in itself does not make a great skater.
But the emphasis really is on "skater", not jumper. As others already wrote, skating is exactly about great basics, edges, speed, difficult steps, transitions and so on. Kostner has it all. And, yes, although, in my opinion, she sometimes lacks emotions in her skating, she is indeed elegant and has great lines.

Z/G got huge distance on both sides of the twizzles, very impressive. I loved the transition into the spin. I wasn't so crazy about back-to-back lifts, especially since they had the same (or similar) exits. For me the program went by very quickly.

To get high SS marks you are supposed to show mastery of a blade, one-footed skating and NOT standing on the ice on two feet for what altogether is 30 seconds (20 seconds of standing + 10 seconds of one person moving and the other standing IIRC).

Standing isn't a transition either.

I can understand standing for a couple of seconds at the beginning or when the mood/tempo of the music changes but Morozov really is taking the piss.
Yes, probably a bit too long for a competion program because of the reasons that you mentioned. Although I truly don't mind skaters standing on ice in exhibition programs if it goes with their music and character. Unlike competition programs, they can do whatever they want there - that's why I love exhibition programs.

Yeah, they "moved to the music" but it just seemed cheesy and juvenile.

You have the right to perceive the program that way but it doesn't change the fact that they have ticked the PCS requirement boxes.

They skated to Pink Panther so the kind of movement they showed fitted the music perfectly.

They solid it all the way, but I don't see how the choreography was anything complex. There is a lot of posing, as you criticize V/T for.

The way the elements were linked together and laid out was definitely more complex than what you usually see from Pair teams.

Posing is fine if it fits the music and is limited in scope. They definitely didn't stand on the ice for 30 seconds.

Hurtado&Diaz were disappointing. They were hot last year, but now they're doing an old Abitbol and Bernadis program in earth tones and glitter? :blah:

They are getting better and better technically and they skated with a lot of emotion and sold it quite well but this program doesn't seem to suit them AT ALL. Such a weird music choice...

I'm liking it much better than the wangos from last season so far.

Me too. I hate the short dance in theory (I'm still bitter about the elimination of CDs and incorporating patterns into the short dance) but this combination is better than last year's. Golden waltz patterns to tango music? Tango and waltz combinations? :yikes: There were a few decent programs in my opinion, but this year's rhythms flow together much better.

Really? I like this couple a lot, but I find this program a total snoozefest:yawn::coffee::violin:
I don't know why most of the skaters always choose Albinoni. It's depressing and boring, apart of being overused

thanks a lot for the links , btw:)

It's not a copy-paste of Miki's SP.

That is another composer's take on melodies from the Symphonic Suite (at least from the bit in that YT clip)....Seriously I don't know where skaters find all of these weird versions/rearrangements of the classics. Wouldn't it just be easier to skate to something, oh, I dunno...original? :D

I love both their programs, but I must admit their LP is breathtaking. These two are such a pleasure to watch, they always bring tears to my eyes. They look so much like a dance couple, it's a crime
Bravo to them and to Franca Bianconi.

Thanks for sharing.

Imo, her LP dress should be a little longer (especially on the back!). It's kinda distracting :P
