Nobunari Oda
SP: Jazz and Blues (Nobu said he does not remember the music title....)
FS: Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (Jazz arranged)

Both are choreographed by Sebastien Britten.

Thanks for all of the information on Japaneses skaters! I believe that Marc-Andre Craig skated to a jazzy version of Umbrellas of Cherbourg at Canadians 5 or 6 years ago and if I recall correctly, his choreographer was also Sebastien Britten, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was the same version of the music. I'm glad that Britten is doing Oda's choreography this year, as Wilson's work with Oda has been less than inspired.

Kanako Murakami
SP: Granada / Choreo by Tatiana Tarasova
FS: Violin Concerto in E Minor by Mendelssohn / Choreo by Marina Zueva

Kanako said this SP is still difficult to skate for her, so may consider to change.

That's too bad - I hope she sticks with it, as I love the Granada music and I think it will work well for Kanako's style.

FINALLY someone chose Song without words by Mendelssohn. I have a soft spot for it as I have played it myself (I'm a cellist). :) This may well make me a fan of Haruka Imai :)

i guess we're in the same boat then ;)

love the song, and haruka imai will do it justice. i just hope that she fully recovers so she can do justice to the piece

love kozuka's and akiko's music selection. it's a real shame that some of these talented skaters dont have GPs.

btw does anyone know which hungarian rhapsody akiko is skating to. like composer wise

the only thing i'm not too happy about is kanako's fs

Yuzuru Hanyu
SP: Etude, Op. 8 No12 in D Sharp minor by Scriabin

This certainly doesn't fall into the category of 'over-used music'. Has anyone used music by Scriabin recently?

For his short program, Sergei Voronov skated to an elevator-orchestral version of the same piece during the 2009-10 season.

I do like his music choices. I remember Fedor Andreev once skated to a concerto when he skated singles, and Douglas Razzano also skated to Scriabin a few years back.

The music selections for Jeffrey Buttle's Glenn Gould program included a piece by Scriabin (Deux Morceaux, Op. 57, No. 2: Caresse Dansée).

Haruka Imai
SP: Song Without Words Op 109 by Mendelssohn
FS: My Fair Lady (modern arranged)

Both choreographed by Yuka Sato.
She plans to try 3-3 in SP, and 3-3 & 2A-3T in FS.
Now she broke her leg...(I hope her soon recovery.)

I confirmed that she is going to join the Ice show "Fantasy on Ice Niigata" in this weekend.
So I think her condition is OK now ;)
(I heard she broke her leg in July.)

I'm so happy because I'll go to Fantasy on Ice :)

Akiko skates Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody and it is Edvin Marton's arranged one.

Hah, I thought this said Daisuke Takahashi at first. I would have loved to have seen him interpret those. I guess Murakami is a Yagudin fan.

Who isn't? :P

But I would actually love to see Takahashi's interpretation of Gladiator as well. After the end of Joubert (I have no doubts his big days are long gone), Daisuke is the last one whose skating actually reminds me of Yags.

Huh. I don't see it at all. In theory I think Javi Fernandez might be capable of Yagudin-like moments, but Takahashi's style is completely different.

Based on his track record, I've decided that until Joubert retires, I'll never count him out. He is clearly a cat with nine lives, and I don't think he's used them all yet.

I approve of anyone who chooses music by Joe Hisaishi. Go Takahiko!

We really enjoyed watching this, thank you for posting!
If they perform it cleanly tomorrow, I can see them on the podium!
