But we don't know if they're using real Egyptian music , or just Egyptian themed music,if they'll try to emulate Egyptian dance ( not easily translatable onto ice ), or something theatrically Egyptian...politically Egyptian ( some sort of "tribute" to Tahrir Square )...
In the article that announced their programs, Nathalie said their musics would be samba for the SD and world music for the FD.
That should eliminate Astérix : Mission Cléopatre that Ando (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MIZYn_Z6Rk) and Phaneuf (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhKl1skVoG0) used.
(too bad neither digged into the extravaganza of Monica Bellucci's (Cleopatra's) dresses (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOPKTU8Z_O8) though :drama:)

What does world music mean?

Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_music) says :
"World music in its classic definition is a general categorical term for global music, such as the traditional music or folk music of a culture that is created and played by indigenous musicians and is closely related to the music of the regions of their origin.
As a pure genre, world music's original intention is to distinguish a complete array of ethnic specificity, though a more globalized 21st century is fast expanding its categorical scope; evidenced by the necessity for less ethnically sterile, hybrid world music artists to be classified under less standardized sub-genres, such as World fusion, Global fusion, Ethnic fusion and Worldbeat ..."

(I've never really thought about it as all the Fnac stores have big-to-huge "musiques du monde" departments, so it's kind of a given thing)

Mas que nada looks in danger of being the theme for the short dance!
At Bompard, 3 couples are already known to be using it, Pechalat/Bourzat, Ilinykh/Katsalpov and now the Spanish couple Hurtado/Diaz:-

Thanks!

I actually loved Jessica Dube's singles program (minus the falls on the jumps :P ). She seems much happier on the ice alone.

I really wish Elldj Balde would master those jumps; I just love watching him skate.

Ian Martinez - Tinkly Stairway to Heaven :scream: Angel wings on his costume :scream: :scream:

Cynthia Phaneuff is starting to bore me. Every program is the same.

I guess that effectively eliminates orientales too. ;) I wouldn't mind if they used something like Maduro or Solace though...I think it'd gel more with them (and most of the audience) than trying to do an Um Kalthoum or something similar.

I think I'm going to go sit in a corner and pretend I didn't read that I&K are using Ave Maria. :yikes:

No, they haven't announced their music choices yet, I just know that from people who went to watch their programs at the Lyon rink on Saturday.

taz'smum, thank you. Well, I don't like this choice for them... Especially the same with I/K...
Do you have any other information?:shuffle: Or it's a secret?

All I know is that P/B are skating to a different version to I/K, as I/K are skating to a version by the Black Eyed Peas. P/B's 2nd piece is a samba, though I don't know what the track is.

I think anybody's program to GaGa choreographed by Camerlengo would be :kickass:

Well, I still have some hope that Camerlengo would not be overGuGuing himself.

Can anyone afford the rights to use Lady Gaga's music?
