Historia de un amor was written by a Panamanian, I donīt remember his name now.

Carlos Eleta Almaran (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historia_de_un_Amor), according to Wikipedia.

Most people know it from the Perez Prado recording that Torvill and Dean used for their 1994 OD:

According to Shazaam, the recording linked by Sulphur is by Guadalupe Pineda con los tres ases on the album "Buddha Bar IV". Hopefully they'll use that instead of the ubiquitous Prado, although at first I didn't recognize it without the grunts.

I loved Torvil and Dean's Rumba to Historia de un amor. When Ryan Bradley used this music a few years ago all I could think of was how I wanted to see Torvil and Dean skate to it. But when Daisuke Takahashi used it last year, I loved it and wasn't thinking of T&D anymore. I hope Weaver and Poje can do that for me too.

Guaadalupe's rendition is particularly nice ( love that guitar style ) although Luz Casalo's over on the right is very nice as well I hope they use something more along these lines as well.

Aranjuez for Lafuente... :wall:

I had the same reaction.

Lafuente really needs to find her own style and work on her expression.

Using a tired old warhorse like Aranjuez CERTAINLY isn't a step in the right direction.

As did I. It won't do anything for her.

But hey, Spanish music for a Spanish gal. :P

It is rather well known Spanish music, to put it mildly;)

Rite of passage. She'll never have to do it again.

In this Icenetwork interview with Michal Brezina (http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110705&content_id=21432016&vkey=ice_news), he mentions that he's "keeping my short program (Japanese Kodo Drums) and we are working on my new long program right now."

That was a pretty cool one, so I'm happy he's keeping it.

Makarova
SP- Yann Tiersen, unknown piece
LP- "Some Like it hot"/"Gentlemen Prefer Blondes"

Makarova's new choreographer is Ilya Averbukh. This will be Averbukh's first competitive program. Spies are reporting that it's going to be something special, in a good way. I can not wait.

Hmmm, I really liked the improvement on her presentation we've seen this season.

I hope the Averbukh experiment is going to work out.
