Flatt shouldn't be working on harder jumps, she should be reworking her jump technique, especially the flip / lutz. And as same said, her sal and loop were better, but her axel was small.

Whether she was injured or just not very gifted with her body, she needs to find a coach who could help her work on those and a choreographer who could cover those weaknesses.

I might have said it somewhere else, but her priority should be (if she is serious about returning next season)

1. presentation & choreography
2. speed
3. spins
4. jump quality
5. jump technique
6. jump consistency

And then she can consider working on harder jumps / combos.

This is EXACTLY what she needs. I hope that, if she's doing new programs, she's picked a new choreographer. Please please PLEASE not Lori!

I love that Rachael's loyal to her team, but the loyalty seems to be a curse and a blessing. Seriously, she needs a new choreographer. I'm sure Lori's a lovely person, but she's not getting the job done for Rachael, and that's what counts in a choreographer.

While we're on the topic of videos of Rachael, I found this one recently (with some help from the Mirai thread in the Trash Can): http://hurdvideo.com/latest_news.htm

I've heard the story of this program-she was so scared that she forgot her program and the coach was running around/telling her what to do. What struck me about it was the Betty Boop-iness of it!

Mirai's is adorable, too.

Both totally adorable. (requirements for alpha must have changed, or Mirai was doing all kinds of illegal Alpha moves. Waltz jumps? back spirals? Mohawks??? SHOCKING.)

I wonder what Mirai's music was. It sounds familiar.

She also needs to consider that color. I think the pink looks really good on her! She rarely ever does pale pink, save for that EX costume she pulls out now and again.

She is completely adorable in that video.

Ugh... that video is proof that RF will never rid herself of the boop-boop-bee-doop. Maybe we can blame her first coach?

For real - once I lost a competition because I did a back pivot in FS 2. :kickass:

ITA. I think Rachael's skating could be so much more enjoyable to watch if the above were addressed-with a totally new coach and choreographer.

Who would be a good choreographer for Rachael?

Tarasova!:D Or not.. :scream:

Actually, I'd like to see what somone like Sandra Bezic could do for Rachael. I remember an old interview where she said that what she tried to do for Brian was to 'get rid of the schtick' or something along those lines. Artistically she certainly made Boitano look much improved choreo-wise by the '88 Olympics imo.
