During the synchro Worlds in Finland, Speedy had a press conference. A Finnish journalist asked him if the new team event means that synchro will not became an Olympic event. Speedy was silent for a minute, then only answered: "Lady, that was a very provocative question."
I would have rather seen synchro at the Olympics than a team event. My reasons, as a Finn, are of course apparent.:saint:

This - the FS team/points event - seem like a scheme to generate TV ratings rather than any genuine desire to even up M/F athlete numbers at the winter games.
Was there seriously a groundswell of support for this event among athletes? Or only among the national federations likely to win medals?
If so, I missed it.
I'm psyched for women's ski jumping, they've been campaigning for a while.
The X-Games-like events (snowboard cross, moguls, short track speed skating) as loopy as they once sounded to me, are really exciting, challenging, insipring, worldwide rink & mountain sports that draw athletes (individuals and teams) from all over.
