Finally after 18 months, my new home is finished and I have a settlement date in a couple of weeks.
It is an off the plan 2 bedroom unit which I signed the contracts back in August 2009 and it was meant to be finished last June/July. It is now done and I will be able to move in a couple of weeks.
They had delays due to council permissions and we had the wettest winter last year for years here in Melbourne.
Now after housesharing for a while, housesitting stints and living with mum for the last 7 months, it will be done and I can finally stopped feeling like I am living in limbo.
Here is a link to another property on the block that is for sale. The colour scheme is a bit different (lighter cupboards and carpet) but the front and layout are the same.

Now it is up to the bank to get their butt into gear and sort things out. My mortgage is approved but they just need to apply for my first home owners grant.
Anyway I am relieved and can't wait to get moved into my own new space.
Funny thing was when I rang my mum to tell her she almost thought I was playing an April Fools Day joke on her.
