According to this Russian article http://www.infox.ru/sport/winter/2011/03/30/Vyengyerskaya_figuri.phtml

Hungarian ice dancer Nora Hoffmann was hospitalized Monday night (29 March) in Moscow with acute pain in the abdomen. The diagnosis is not clear yet, maybe pancreatitis or food poisoning.

In an young woman like that with a case of acute abdominal pain, pancreatitis is not the first thing that comes to mind.

I hope it is something simple to resolve and not appendicitis or something else that requires surgery. Poor Nora.

No kidding. Ectopic pregnancy and appendicitis were my first guesses, and I'm not even a doctor (nor do I play one on TV). But perhaps she has a history of pancreas problems?

It could also be due to excessive dieting/dehydration, in the run-up to a major competition like Worlds. Some people overdo the dieting during peak training times.

I hope that Nora will be fine and ready for Worlds. She and Max have been improving by leaps and bounds.

Excellent guesses! When I think of pancreatitis, I think of chronic alcoholism and not of Nora Hoffman.

It could be her gall bladder. Didn't Totmianina have a gall bladder flareup at one point during her competitive days?

Slightly OT but my dad had pancreatitis a couple of years ago that developed out of nowhere. He's not a drinker or a smoker and spent most of his life as an athlete. It does happen.

Isn't there a pancreatitis - gall bladder disease connection? Think so.

She could just have an infection of some sort that would lead to soreness in one or more of her organs. Whatever it is I hope she recovers, she is the only reason my husband sits with me to watch ice danging.

I am talking about the usual suspects and pancreatitis is not one of them in a young woman with acute abdominal pain.
