rfisher and I have a 2-for-the-price-of-1 special on our souls for a Volosozhar/Trankov, Savchenko/Szolkowy and Bazarova/Larionov podium.

I'll throw 2/3 of my soul in the mix for V/T and S/S, but let the best third one win. If K/S deliver, I will not begrudge them. If B/L rise to the challenge, more power to them. But that'll be haaaard.

But what a story it would be for V/T on their first ever Worlds in home ice to win!

i thought the post Olympic Worlds go to the previous Olys place, in that case Vancouver, but since Canada took 2013 I dont know how this works now.

its just a coincidence that Nagano, Calgary, Torino all hosted post Olympic Worlds. In Calgary's case twice ('72 and '06). I guess its a matter of who bidded or who submitted the best bid. For 2006 its a fact that Calgary was the lone bidder. Canada already hosted several post-Olympic Worlds ('32in Montreal, '60 in Vancouver, '84 in Ottawa just to add to the 2 hostings of Calgary). I doubt Canada would want another post-Olympics Worlds. The last pre-Olympic Worlds they hosted was 2001 in Vancouver and London, Ont., will get their turn in 2013.

Calgary hosted Worlds in 2006- the 2002 Olympics were in Salt Lake City, not Calgary. The previous poster was refering to the 2002 Worlds being held in Nagano, after the Olympics were there in 1998, and 2010 Worlds being held in Torino after the Olympics having been held there in 2006.

I was sure that Korea would want the Worlds at some point.
I was surprised when the opportunity to 'rescue' the 2011 Worlds occurred, that Korea did not exert all of its power to access it..particularly with Kim on the entry list.
They seemed to enter the race to replace and then dropped out immediately...as if told they would not be considered.
I don't know the likelihood of Kim's attendance at 2014..and the Korean fan following of figure skating in Korea at the moment, unlike Japan..is very skater specific ...to Yu-Na Kim .

When I first saw that Japan was favoured for 2015 and not 2014...my thoughts were that Korea was 2014...but if Kim is no longer in the equation..I don't know

the order that i did put it is the order of the post olympic wordls. i very well know that SLC hosted 2002. and if you re-read my very first sentence, its ironic that Nagano, Calgary, Torino all hosted POST OLYMPIC WORLDS. It was clearly written in worlds context not olympics! its also a clear fact that the last 3 post Olympic Worlds took place in former Olympic cities and that's the point that i was making.

i remember reading an article a few years back that tokyo beat seoul and beijing for hosting rights of worlds 2007.

Officially, the Korean federation did not show any interest in hosting the 2011 Words. Well, what I remember is, their name was mentioned in one of Phil Hersh's articles as a possible host, and all the speculations started.
