rfisher and I have a 2-for-the-price-of-1 special on our souls for a Volosozhar/Trankov, Savchenko/Szolkowy and Bazarova/Larionov podium.

I throw mine in for free. :saint:

AP news brief: Japan being supported to host 2015 worlds by Cinquanta (http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9MDCLN81&show_article=1)

However, IMO Japan winning the men's and women's gold and a pairs team such as I previously mentioned winning the pairs' gold would be the best story. :saint:
Partly agreed. While Yuko is kindly treated by J-press and people, her win will not be enough for J-fans, I think. They also want to hear the Japan anthem, see the flag and a gold medal or two on Japan FS records. Which means, the win of either Dai, or Taka and/or Mao, or Miki in men's or/and ladies' events would be a great thing.

That's a relief to know that the France and Canada hosted worlds won't be switched around or postponed. No one wants 2014 after-Olympics worlds? :cold:

I love Savchenko/Szolkowy (and they're honestly the best team out there), but would be really pleased if Volosozhar/Trankov won gold. I wouldn't mind Kavaguti/Smirnov either.

If it is the case, Russia will take it again, right after Sochi.

Well, I suppose that 2015 puts them in the same position in the rotation with regard to the Olympics as they would have been, but I'm surprised they're not putting them in the next available slot. Maybe they have stated privately that they don't want the post-olympic worlds.

I'm totally on the Kavaguti/Smirnov train this year. That LP is a stunner.

I am too, it's beautiful, I'm actually moved by it like it was the 90s or something

But what a story it would be for V/T on their first ever Worlds in home ice to win!

i thought the post Olympic Worlds go to the previous Olys place, in that case Vancouver, but since Canada took 2013 I dont know how this works now.

I hope for her sake they do win a medal. They have skated together for almost a year now; this will be her 8th worlds and his 6th with neither one winning a medal in the past at seniors. They should have no trouble winning one this year.

You're missing my point: I know ISU members can set or bend their own rules for their own competitions, as the USFSA demonstrated at 2011 Nationals as well as at Europeans as Eislauffan has stated. I wondered if the ISU had a similar "competitors only in the exhibition" rule/guideline. *shrugs* I didn't see anything in the ISU online rules, so I guess not unless someone more knowledgeable can chime in. Thanks anyway.

I had thought it was a hard-and-fast rule at all elite competitions. I guess it's more of a social norm than a rule. Thanks for the info.
<<snip>>

I believe it is a rule. I cant answer about the Europeans event, but at Nationals, I believe the exhibitions had ended. Evans skate was done after the exhibitions.

Also, IIRC, wasnt there a GP event (or final) in France, where A&P skated, where they had all the fans stand up, then sit back down, saying the GP event is over, so now A&P can skate?

:) You are right, that would be a good story too and surely even the fans of the other deserving skaters wouldn't grudge them that!

Agreed! :cheer2:

Two skaters representing Russia, one of whom is originally from Japan, winning gold would make a better story, in my opinion. :saint:

Well, they have the Prime Minister backing them, donīt they?:shuffle:
And it is not something I blame them, absolutely not. You canīt always choose your supporters, and they also have great and lovely fans here in FSU.:saint:
