Moskvina:

"Our approach to preparation to Worlds is simple- It is just another cometition. Where does not matter. Now K/S will have to get out of competitive shape a bit and restart their training to pick again in late April."

Does anyone know if the $9.95 people paid to have Universal Sports streaming video of Worlds will still be possible?

The website is still offering the subscription and has the note "Due to the recent earthquake in Japan, the event has been moved to Moscow,Russia from April 25-May." Although when you select the "purchase" button it still refers to Japan.

The first date I see in the schedule is April 27 2PM (Eastern) so probably no qualifying live, but maybe they'll have it on demand.

The page I see says "4/27/2022 - 4:00 pm" lol I would never pay that far in advance. :D

Actually, the seeds DO get a say as to their events. The gold medalist from 2010 (Takahashi) got first pick--he chose NHK and SA. Chan naturally would have chosen SC, and then one of CoC, CoR and TEB. CoC was right after SC, so he wouldn't have chosen that, which left CoR and TEB.From ISU (http://isu.sportcentric.net/db//files/serve.php?id=1904):

2.1 Seeded Skaters/Couples
a) Skaters/couples who have placed 1 6 in each of the 4 disciplines (Men, Ladies, Pairs, Ice Dance) at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2010 will be considered to be seeded skaters/couples and will be assigned, by draw, to skate in two events. So "assigned by draw" really means "get to choose what they want"?

I'm glad this is finally settled and the skaters know how to proceed.

I doubt NBC will televise it but you never know. Probably if the US gets any coverage at all it will be on Universal Sports.

AFAIK seeded skaters can state their preferences, but their wishes aren't binding (you can't always listen to the skaters, you know :P). I thought it was rather obvious where the 2010 men's medalists would go: all three had home country GPs, Patrick getting SA seemed highly unlikely, and everyone knew Joubert wanted to do CoC, so it all worked out nicely.

As for Worlds, it's great that it'll be this spring! :cheer2: One thing, though - I think someone said that snooker Worlds is at the same time? I am very concerned at the implications of this for Eurosport coverage.

Was the vote unanimous or did some of the other sites get votes too?

According to Piseev, it was "absolute majority of votes".

Wondering whether any of the skaters might have trouble with traveling/practicing on Easter and Orthodox Easter? Don't know how huge a deal Easter is in the rest of the world; its significance varies a lot in the US.
