What a relief to hear the news!
I think Japanese skaters are more than happy to compete in Russia.
As you know, Russian FS is very popular in Japan and skaters have been inspired by it and learned a lot from it.

Whew! Well done, Russia. :)

The main reason I'm happy Worlds is back on is that many skaters have a one-shot-in-a-career chance of competing at Worlds, especially as National Champions.

And for anyone choosing to make this year their swan song, at least they hang up their hat after competing.

So cheers to the athletes and organizers! :cheer2:

So Chan ends up being pretty smart to have gone to CoR earlier this year. For him I think it is important to have some familiarity with a place to do his best. It's not like he gets to pick which GPs he gets.

Many thanks to Russia for reaching out to help organize such an important championship with a very limited amount of time. I am sure your hard work and camaraderie will result in a successful event for everyone involved. Congratulations to all the skaters who have worked so hard this season to finally be able to have your 2011 World Championships. Best wishes to everyone! <3:cheer2:

Jeez. Lady, don't get me wrong, but you're being an annoying sour grape.

Who is being a sour grape?

LOL!!! Surprise! Can't wait to see all the Plushenko banners!

Knew it! I knew it! Goodness, is there anything he CAN'T do?
Putin (pronounced Poootin :D) only did this to drum up support for Plushenko's reinstatement, and like Charlie Sheen he's WINNING! If SOME people didn't have their heads so far up Plushenko's arrogant ***, they'd see it! LOL :rollin:
It's not a big deal, it's just skating right? It's not like any of us here spend hour upon hour every day browsing a figure skating forum or anything sad like that.

Thank you, Russia!

"Feel in Moscow like at home,"- Putin.

99.9% that I'll be there.

Moscow surely will be warmer in April, I hope. :cold:

Moreover, it's the city of gorgeous museums, elegant department stores, fancy restaurants, etc. And St-Petersburg is just one hour by air! GO!!!!:kickass:

Yay for their finally being a new date!

Also, thanks, Russia, for hosting on such short notice. :cheer2:

Glad that Moscow got the championships

For US matters, the time difference and potential schedule could give a big opportunity to Universal Sports to broadcast LIVE coverage of the free skates like they did with Torino worlds last year

We dont know the schedule yet, but in 2005 they held the free skates at around 19:00 to 23:00 Moscow time, that was 11:00 to 4:00 PM US Eastern

if they follow the same order, that could give a chance to Universal Sports to show in their channel tv (if they want to) live coverage again, it´s not like their morning-evening hours are filled with sporting events, they are almost re-runs everytime

As Johnny would say.."Thanks to Mother Russia"..very happy for the skaters, still praying for the people of Japan.

[CSOI] just lost 1/3 of their advertised cast.
Darn, I really enjoyed my little jaunt over to Windsor for CSOI last year. But this could well change my mind about this year.

Yay Moscow! :cheer: I'm glad to hear there will be Worlds.

And the selfish part of me is more than glad that it isn't in Finland. I mean, the one time in my life that I'm NOT there... they'd suddenly have a random Worlds? :drama: That would be too much to handle. :P

Awesome news! And well done, Moscow; they got out there early and obviously put a lot into getting a workable Worlds plan together. I hope it all goes swimmingly for them and the skaters.
