OK, but does this mean France won't want 2013 Worlds in exchange which Canada has definitely (and very fairly) ruled out?

I doubt it means Didier has given up on the idea of grabbing 2013 ;) This is their formal offer. He has already let it be known in the press (and likely behind the scenes to the powers that be in the ISU ) how he thinks such altruism should be rewarded..nudge,nudge..wink,wink..know what I mean ?

Is the ISU using OBO or COP to calculate the results? And when will the protocols be posted!? :P

I suspect they need the sekret komputar to "randomly" select which votes count.

Even the Lake Placid News has an article up now: http://www.lakeplacidnews.com/page/content.detail/id/503471/Lake-Placid-may-host-the-world-figure-skating-championships.html?nav=5005

According to Olympic Regional Development Authority spokesman Jon Lundin, U.S. Figure Skating submitted a bid to host the competition in either Lake Placid or Colorado Springs, Colo. on Tuesday morning.

“It’s obviously something we’re very interested in having here,” he said. “I think we have the experience and the facility to host something like this.”
...
Contacted Wednesday, Scottie Bibb, director of media and public relations at U.S. Figure Skating, said the ISU council will likely vote Thursday, March 24 on the site and determine the dates of the event.

“They’re reviewing the bids, and we should know by Friday (March, 25),” she said.
...
She said initially the ISU asked for certain guidelines when considering different venues such as a minimum of 700 hotel rooms — Lake Placid has around 1,900, according to the Lake Placid Convention and Visitors Bureau — and a seating capacity of 8,000 (Lake Placid’s arena holds 7,700).

“But I don’t think they’re going to fuss about a couple hundred seats,” Bibb added. “It’s more about the overall quality of the bid and the local organizing committees.”

She said U.S. Figure Skating stands behind both bids: “We wouldn’t have put them in if they weren’t strong bids. Lake Placid has a wonderful history, of course, and they’re certainly capable of hosting something like this.”
...
“The biggest challenge will be to put everything together in just six weeks, for whoever does it,” Bibb said.

Or there are "attachments" :bribe: to each application which need to be thoroughly assessed.

I have to ask, who is "Speedy"?

Some skatefans use it as a nickname for ISU president Ottavio Cinquanta, since he was a former speed skater. Don't ask me why though...

"We all have a heart and we stand in solidarity with Japan, the Japanese people and the Japanese Skating Federation in these cruel times that strike them and which have prevented them from organising the 2011 world championships," said Didier Gailhaguet, president of the French Ice Sports Federation (FFSG) in a statement.

“I think it’s really important how we plan out these next few weeks and make sure that we’re not overtired or overtrained or anything. It will be interesting. I’m sure everyone is just ready to go and ready to hear a decision.”

Given his reputation as ISU President, I sometimes wonder if the nickname, "Swifty", wouldn't be more appropriate.
