I think this is a good decision. Yet, the situation is still so vague. What does "postpone" even mean? There are still many questions that will be answered in the coming days.

The google translation seems to suggest a 3-week delay and the same location (Tokyo)

ETA:The above is a mistranslation by Google translate. :wall: ;)

I hope that the ISU re-opens the period to name entries; a 21 day delay might make a difference for some skaters who are currently injured.

I feel relieved that they are postponing Worlds so that everyone can take time to assess the situation and ensure safety of all. Still, I hope Tokyo gets to host the Worlds on whatever later date is selected.

Quite possibly a dumb question, but IF they move Worlds from Tokyo this year, could Toyko get to host it next year, with the ISU bumping the other hosts back another year? I thought when they canceled 1961 Worlds that Prague got to host it in 1962 instead (presumably with other hosts bumped back a year... or maybe they didn't select hosts too far ahead of time back then?).

I think the google translation is wrong. Though I do not know Japanese, I can understand some of the Chinese letters. What the article says is "the world championship, which was supposed to open on the 21st". It does not mean a 21-day delay.

Thanks! I can't read Japanese at all. I guess we'll have to wait for the official ISU annoucement.

At least, I am relieved that it is a postponement not a cancellation. I think this is the fairest solution for both the Japanese people and the athletes. I do hope they still get to hold it in Tokyo.
