Frankly, who cares what happens to Worlds at this stage? Very unimportant in the scheme of things.
For once we agree.
It's a figure skating contest. Right now the important things are surviving this.
My heart goes out to everyone effected.

Kyoda News Agency is saying 110 dead, 350 missing.
A far better number than 88,000...

Ugh, this is so unbelievably devastating. :( Crying for the Japanese people, wishing love, strength, and safety to you all in slowly rebuilding from this tragedy!

I can't get through to one of my best mates who lives in Hawaii; does anyone know anything about the status there? Can't find much so far.

Someone here at work stated that while looking at the videos of the tsunami and the raging fires, it looked like scenes from "2012"

Definitely. Hopefully the number of deaths/disappearances doesn't increase much. :(

I'm looking at those pictures for over ten minutes and that's what I'm feeling now. It almost feels like I'm watching a disaster movie............
now the news reporter says that a tsunami alert has been set off in Tokyo Gulf. oh terrible. just so so terrible.......... may god be there with them.

No major damage. It's expected to be minor and scattered. Your friend is probably fine. They may be caught in traffic and I suspect cell phone signals are overloaded at the moment.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Japanese people.
Is there any word about Mao and her family?
