It looks to me like Tessa & Scott are seriously preparing the rhumba short dance for next season, in order to compete.

Which is good news!

YMMV, of course.

I'm so happy that they're preparing for the next season!!! Good news!

Marina and Igor's choice to conveniently bring in one specialist to work with the world's top two teams, who train in the same location and on mostly the same schedule, on a program that will have the exact same rhythms and technical requirements, is most definitely an indication that the tide and their biases have turned in the past two seasons. After all, nothing was stopping them then from bringing in one of those many choreographers who specializes in both Bollywood dance and traditional Spanish flamenco, or tango and Latin rhythms. This is indeed a deeply suspicious turn of events. ;)

But I'm curious, who you think the bias is turning in favor of?

Oh, I don't think there is one, actually. That comment was satirical. :)

It is good news. It shows that they will be around for a while :). As far as the choreo goes, you could give both teams exactly the same and it would turn out differently....that's just how different from one another they are.... I'm referring to DW and VM. I'm just looking forward to the new season and hoping there are no more injuries, break-ups, etc.

The important news here is that V/M seem to be preparing for next year's SD (given the choreographer's Latin ballroom dance background).

I suppose that we need to wait for the GP assignments to be sure, but I'm very hopeful!

I agree. I imagine both teams are getting some good technical grounding with this, but even given the limitations inherent in a SD, their very different styles of skating and performing with one another will set each apart from the other. Musical selection, too, could play a key role, even with identical rhythms.

Very eager to hear the GP assignments!

I can't wait for the GP assignments to be released either and I'll be hopeful along with you.

I'm :swoon: at the very thought of a V&M Rhumba skated all season long. :rollin:

Apologies,. I was hoping my comment about choreographers who specialize in both Bollywood and flamenco would have done the trick...

I think it makes sense for Marina and Igor to bring in one specialist to work with the two teams on a program that's essentially an expanded compulsory. It was comparing this situation -- similar to that with Elena Tchaikovskaya -- to choreographing wildly different original dances that struck me as off.

IMO, using this choreographer is really not much different than when both teams were advised by name of the inventor of the Tango Romantica whose name I don't have right now when they were practicing the Tango Romantica CD for the Olympics.

Is there a reason the other Canton teams aren't being advised by this choreographer?

I think its not the same - CD and SD choreo.
And honestly, Elena Tchaikovskaya worked with V-M and D-W only 1 or 2 days. And i saw some difference only in V-M presentation, bu not in D-W.
Just read Elena work with all Canton teams now.

Oh yeah, what a bad idea to use the same choreographer as other teams for the SD where there's so much room for choreographic innovation, somebody should open V/M's eyes.;)

Two greate patners now near Scott - Chock and Crone

Greater than Tessa? If so, then somebody should open Scott's eyes. LOL
