And my point would remain the same. *I* was not aware of this "agenda" so logically one should assume I am not the only one. Highlighting it the way you did, and tapper88 coming flat out and stating it, has made me aware. If you give someone attention like that then you give attention to the very thing you don't want mentioned.

I'm not going to say anymore after this, but it's more that pani's being a troll and when she's ignored, she takes it as tacit approval. She'd already insinuated it a page or two ago. So yeah, I'm going to call her out on it.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I wish Tessa and Scott will read this comments. :)
Thank you, pingu

I hope so too. Very encouraging and complimentary commentary by the Italians. Thanks again Pingu:):)

Thanks Pingu! Appreciate it!!

I had to look up who this guy was (Platov) but he had this to say about V/M:

Save the Last Dance for Sochi: Among those who'd like to see Olympic ice dance champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir stick around for another Olympics is Evgeni Platov, a two-time Olympic ice dance champion for Russia with Oksana Grishuk.

Now a coach, Platov has been a huge fan of the Canadians since seeing them at the 2005 world junior championships and telling friends they'd be Olympic champions one day.

“To stay another four years, that's when you're learning who you really are,” said Platov. “Can you take the pressure? Everyone knows right now they're the best and everyone's looking at them. So what do they do? What kind of program? What kind of costumes?

“It's much easier to climb on the top of Everest or any mountain. It's very hard to hold that position, because everybody wants that place. It will be great if they stay another four years until Sochi. Then they will recognizable as super champions.”

Platov had predicted before the free dance at the worlds that endurance would be an issue for Virtue and Moir, who did seem to flag towards the end in winning a silver medal behind Americans Meryl Davis and Charlie White.

Platov faced a similar situation at the 1995 worlds in Birmingham, England, where he didn't compete for the whole season before the championships because he had a knee injury.

“The free program, I'm telling you, was not easy to skate,” he said, adding he thinks Virtue and Moir have a great future ahead if they continue skating.

“You have to really have some guts to win with no mistakes at the Olympics. We've all seen many people don't have that strong mind. I think they're amazing. They've got amazing abilities and great style.”

LMAO who is this twit of a commentator?
She is ridiculous & truly embarassing for the sport, she pulls V&M down as much & often as she can in this dance & the FD & it's so clear he utter bias for her US team of D&W.

The fact she says V&M had not alot of speed in this dance & their choppy is truly laughable she seriously needs to STFU cause she knows nothing..

Lissa, that was Judy Blumberg, multiple world dance medalist and technical specialist.

Shayii, that wasn't the first time Platov publically praised V/M. In particular, he's had kind words for Scott in the past

:D I believe they will take their place among the all time greats. But why on earth would they go to another coach ? And why would anyone want them to ?

LMAO at this post. Judy Blumberg knows more about ice dance, and judging under the new system, than most people in the world. As a trained ISU technical specialist, she is one of the most insightful figure skating commentators out there right now. She can truly talk about what the judges are seeing and why they will give the final marks we see on the score sheet.

Speed and choppiness are very hard to tell over the tv/computer screen. You really need to be there in person to judge these aspects of skating.

:D I believe they will take their place among the all time greats. But why on earth would they go to another coach ? And why would anyone want them to ?

There's definitely a perception that with the top four ice dance teams in the USA as well as a full stable in general, that the Z/S house is getting overcrowded.

Add in the fact that some people feel that Shpilband prefer's D/W to V/M (which he's obviously denied, but it certainly circulates as a truism).

Sprinkle in the idea that not everyone likes S/Z's choregraphy - they've got a lot of haterz out there.

---

You know, I really do wish commentators would realize that while bias is human and expected, it actually does a disservice to the audience/viewers when trying to understand the sport. Here's a terrific example (nothing to do with V/M, though)

Rakhamo/Kokko, 1995 Worlds FD
Eurosport Coverage, with Simon/Chris/Nicky.... two of them, anyway (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmOoKQOueeU)
Sandra Bezic commentating (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zqB9ZS6MlQ)

In one, you don't really get why the judges went the way they did. In the other, even if you don't understand the exact technical details, the way Bezic puts the kibosh on speculation about politicking, bias, etc is refreshing (especially in light of .... future commentating decisions).

Often, especially as the new system started, the commentators themselves didn't understand the system...and so they would start throwing bias, etc., into the comments because they didn't really have anything else to say. That's why its so great to have commentators like Blumberg out there. She understands the new system and can tell the viewer what the judges are seeing.

Btw, I will never forgive Bezic for her part in the Salt Lake City scandal. Her ridiculous comments, along with Scott Hamilton's silly screaming, are burned into my memory.

I agree Lissa Blumberg is an idiot and had an obvious huge bias for D&W, now as far as Platov is concerned i agree with him and he totally wants to coach them for the next olympics:D

Anyone notice that Kokko had NOKIA written on his costume  How did he get away with that? I can't imagine you were allowed to wear advertising while skating.

Blumberg is definitely showing bias towards D&W. Especially funny in the SD where D&W didn't even skate their best. But it's no surprise as she is an American commentating on a US network. It's the same with Tracy Wilson on Canadian TV. :)

Blumberg's about the only current or former skater who seems to think very little of V&M's skating.

Anyway, it must make V&M feel great to have such respect from former skaters and their peers.

Judy Blumberg has been very positive about V&M. She just didn't think they were at their best, and they agreed. And just because D&W were a little off on their twizzles doesn't mean they didn't skate the GW pattern extremely well. Plus, Blumberg was very critical of D&W during their 4CC SD.
