The British Eurosport commentators (in particular, Simon Reed) absolutely loved them. He was convinced through the entire competition that Tessa and Scott were going to win right up to the moment that Meryl and Charlie received their marks.

They loved the program, commented on the difficulty of one of the step sequences and said the program was hot lol. Simon also thought that Tessa and Scott should have had a greater lead over M&C in the short dance.

ETA - Simon just said that he felt their silver medal was "unjust" and that in "a royal week, they were very regal."

So he's clearly a fan lol!

FWIW, he's a fan but prefered Meryl and Charlie at both the 2009 and 2010 worlds.

Also, if someone has a link to the B. Eurosport version, that would be awesome.

Simon Reed, in particular, is not an opinion I'd take seriously. This is a man who thought Chait and Saknovsky were the most brilliant team when the judges were scoring them well. Chris I put more stock in but even then they are influenced by how the judges are judging.

He is not the only one alot of people the crowd and other ice dance specialists thought they were robbed. But i guess in ice dance perception is everything, i remember two years ago judges telling Marina they penalized them because tessa had weak legs, its also possible some judges that were at 4cc were also on the worlds panel when they withdrew that did not help.

Oh goodness, I'd take anything Simon says with a pinch of salt! He forgets what happens from one competition to the next and has no idea of what's been going on during the season.

He even claimed earlier in the week that Tessa and Scott had been beaten by Charlie and Meryl at the GPF, even after mentioning that they'd been out for most of the season. I find it quite frustrating when Chris doesn't immediately jump in to tell him he's making daft mistakes all over the place!

It was actually quite obvious he was talking about previous season - from the context.
He always gives word to Chris to tell it more specifically since Chris know more about ice dance.

I'm going to throw in what is sure to be a very unpopular opinion here. I will preface it by saying that V&M are by far my favourite team (being there live to see them win their Olympic title was one of the most exciting moments of my life!) and I have been a huge fan since they were tiny little pre-novice skaters... but I am actually glad they only competed once this season, because their FD did absolutely nothing for me. I had to watch it in three parts because I kept getting bored and distracted, and then I had to force myself to watch it again in a single sitting. I would be very satisfied if this dance was never seen again.

Then again, I have always hated Latin dances (I get nightmares of Grishuk & Platov's monstrous FD from '95), and I know I am in the minority in that I would be perfectly happy seeing Tessa and Scott do romantic programs in the Mahler/Umbrellas vein for the rest of their career. It's easily what they do best, and I think there are enough different ways to do "romantic" (I mean, I think those who argue that Umbrellas and Mahler were too much alike are crazy) to keep it interesting.

I'm not against seeing them "stretch" to show their versatility, but the idea that one must break from their strengths just to prove a point doesn't really sit well with me. Also, if they are going to try different styles consistently, they need to go somewhere beyond Shpilband and Zueva to do it - there are only a few types of programs Igor and Marina do well, and everything else just becomes a cookie-cutter exercise in recycled ideas.

It was obvious if you knew the results from the previous season, but most casual UK viewers won't follow the GP at all and won't know. He did later correct himself so he had been genuinely wrong about it.

I sorta agree a little although i loved the new program, no one can compete with them when they skate classical romantic programs and those are the programs the judges love best from them.

She said they "would come back and evaluate" which means determine if they continue. They said last year they were taking it year by year but I think everyone expects them back.

No way would they change coaches to Platov he can't even get the talented french team to medal.

They've already insinuated in the press conference that they still love to compete, etc, so I think it's highly unlikely they'll retire.

I don't think she would have had that 2nd surgery if she were not intending to continue competing. She probably would have managed without it if she were only planning on show skating, but the fact that it was done convinces me that they will be around for a while.........after all, they are still so young and will continue to grow and improve. They didn't have much of a chance this year, but they will.:)

In fairness to Platov, P&B did have a fall in their FD.

While I am disappointed that V&M didn't win although I new they had about a 50/50 shot, I'm:fragile:over P&B. They must be crushed. I knew they had no chance for anything more than bronze but figured they had to be a lock for at least that. After winning their first European title they had to be confident going into Worlds. IMO their final placement was the biggest surprise of the competition for me.
