Catena, from Argentina I believe. Widely available and yummy. I always have a few bottles at home.

I think that while you're learning about wine just taste as much as you can and figure out what grapes you like. Ask the people doing the tasting lots of questions. Most of them are pretty passionate about wine and love to educate. A friend and I drink wine together once a week and we try not to drink the same bottle twice. The only wines that I really don't like are anything with muscat grapes. They remind me of those cheap floral soaps from when I was a kid. Blech.

ETA: I also try to avoid wines that look like they put a lot of effort and money into marketing. I'd rather drink wine from a winery that puts their money into the wine ;)
