I feel like the Grammy's have been fun tonight, but it kind of reinforces why I don't listen to the radio. I am just holding out hope beyond hope that Arcade Fire pull off the win in best album.

I have to admit that I don't even know who Esperanza Spaulding is, but I like what I could hear of her music.

 because she's the only one I didn't recognize in this category. Which bodes well for the alledged curse to continue.

Well, they just showed the part of Little Lion Man that has the f word. Yeah, ruins the whole song.

At least it's not Beiber but...I don't even know this winner lol.

OMG! I hope for her sake that she isn't on Twitter. The Beliebers will be merciless.

Jewel's dress was really pretty. Too bad Esperanza's is not. I think that bow is going to attack her.

Who in the world is this girl, and my theory is that the Best New Artist curse could not be put on any of the other 4 nominees.

I'm just thrilled that Bieber didn't win. I wonder if we'll see a multitude of YouTube videos tomorrow of 13 year olds having complete meltdowns over Bieber not winning ;)

In terms of being a showcase for real musical talent, the Grammy Awards show, for the most part and with very very few exceptions, stopped being about that a long time ago.

There is a laundry list of performers/nominees who can blow off the stage the performers who have been shown tonight, and who should have been shown. NARAS claims to want to educate the populace about music, and then ends up pandering to the lowest common denominator when it comes to the live performances they show.

Karina - I am older than you are and I rather like the grammys show.

If you don't like them and they have never been the same since whenever, turn them off. It would probably make you happier and I think some other people happier.

How funny that the one I didn't know won! I'm sure she is great, though. I was rooting for Florence and the Machine!

Esperanza Spaulding is a wonderful jazz/pop artist, but she's hardly new. I bought her album a few years ago.

Esperanza Spalding performed at the White House a couple of years ago. I'm surprised she is in the "new artist" category.

The rules for Best New Artist are quite vague. It is up to the Academy to decide when a person made their name known, which can be on their 4th album if they decide that is the album that got their name out to the public.
