According to this
http://www.sports.ru/tribuna/blogs/volosozhartrankov/149446.html

two Exhibition programs were choreographed by Morozov especially for this show
Strange. I should check it.

Ooooh, well, not terribly surprising about M/T, though it is a shame. I can't open the link - are they continuing with other partners or quitting competitive skating?

the article says that they are stopping completely and they say the lack of funding is the reason.

Well, that is the reason they give. ;)

:fragile: I tought they were very well-matched and could have done well. Maybe we can get either Jerome or Yannick Kocon to skate with Joanna Sulej now that they're both partner-less.

Not surprising, but a shame. They looked beautiful together, but I don't think would have been able to compete with the top Russian pairs teams over the next few years; the programs are just too empty, and Vassiliev is not famous for his choreographical brilliance. It's a shame they didn't look into competing for France (or she wasn't releasable, whatever), as they could have at least had success there, and had the ability to still compete internationally.

Dammit, I really loved Blanchard's skating. Maybe he can team up with James and skate for France?

Too bad, I don't buy the reason; I think Maria was just too impatient to give the partnership time to grow.

Yes please, we'd happily take either!

I think Vasiliev was the impatient one.

Tarasova was spot on when totally slating him after the FS at Nats. That's exactly what happens when you don't appreciate what you got and always look for problems.

I used Google Translate to read the interview, so not sure if I got the meaning correct, but it seemed as if Vasiliev suggested that they were kind of taking a time-out and were going to decide at the end of February whether to continue or not? The main problem seems to be lack of funding because of their low placement at Nationals? It also seems as if Vasiliev said that their skating for France wouldn't have helped them improve as a pair because improvement only comes through having to compete against top teams (and France doesn't have any, I guess is the implication?).

What a shame--I thought they were so elegant together and had a lot of potential. :(

I don't think M&B are done - I believe it's a ploy by Vassiliev to get more support from the Russian federation. I do not like Vassiliev, and the dislike goes all the way back to his competitive days. Good for Valova for getting away from him...

The exhibition by Tanya & Max proves once again that he is not good enough for her. :shuffle: Then again, nobody probably is.

I don't understand where the really bad skaters are getting their money from? I hate to drop names but skaters like Ozerova and Golubev. I know Maria would never leave Oleg but I think that would be the best thing for her. She needs to go to Moskvina and skate with Bezmaternikh, or is she too tall?

When I first heard the rumors that I/M were going to Vasiliev, the first thing my suspicious little mind thought was that he needed/wanted some of that funding and attention that I/M would bring to his team. I was worried for I/M. Now if M/B split, I will be even more worried for I/M. Just how powerful a politiker is Vasiliev? If I had to pick, I would say I/M or S/K would be his targets.
