How is it fair that we are bombarded with 320 new Russian wonderbabies per year but we never get any coverage of the baby ice dance teams, even assuming that they exist? :drama:

Here you go, a couple of the top novice dance teams in Russia ;)

Eva Khachaturian/Igor Eremenko (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ae0mnuhkBJQ)
Julia Dolgikh/Alexander Prachanov (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx5lMtxxwmc)

Both teams are born 1999/1997 and are in Svinin/Zhuk's group and work a lot with Rubleva & Shefer.

Happy now? ;)

Proklova is awesome. She has so much personality for a tiny girl. And her speed is also great; it's another thing that struck me about her skating. Her SP to Indian Music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9Rfn-Qtg7Q&feature=related) is also really cool!

She was 5th at the Russian Championships for her age (Zhuk Memorial). These were the girls that finished ahead of her:

All were born in 2000.

She looks really young. The music did not sound 'Indian' to me, unless you meant either American Indian or may be Bollywood, which could be almost anything.

I have not yet watched the other links, but I will.

IMO some of the babies have stronger skating skills than Leonova and as strong a presence. Of course they still have to show these on the senior circuit.

IMO some of the babies skating singles right now, would do very well in ice dance. For instance, 10-year-old Aleksandra Proklova (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRZunwOph5U) skates a more convincing tango than half the senior ice-dance field. (Thanks to oleada for the find.) Her jumps don't look as solid as some of the other baby Russians, so hopefully an ice dance coach will discover her.

Does anyone know of a suitable partner for the future Diva Aleksandra? He musn't be flimsy though, because she already has a pretty effective death stare. ;)

Loved Proklova's skating. Lots of potential. If puberty causes problems in her jumping ability, she could switch to ice dance.

Alexandra Deeva has huge jumps, why should she switch to pairs with jumps like that? Doesn't seem like a smart move.

We were talking about Aleksandra Proklova, not Deeva. :)

Thanks for the videos of the baby dancers, hanca and oleada :)

No, not happy. These are not at all the equivalent of the wonderbabies. If anything, these are mediocrebabies. What's with Svinin/Zhuk channeling Shpilband/Zoueva anyway?

However, when I watched those videos this video of a reaaally tiny Russian couple (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JahhyOvhjM&feature=related)came up and found it cute and fun. They are skating the fourteenstep and taking themselves really seriously. Awww. :rollin:

I try :drama:

You know I'm not huge on ice dance unless there's sex, SKANDAL and boob tassels.

Oh no! I don't mean to be rude, I am very grateful!
You just find others like Aleksandra Proklova, OK? :)

I'm not offended
I think ice dance in general benefits from age and maturity :)

Another question:
We haven't heard about the Uspenski brothers for ages. There were rumours one of them retired.
None of them was at Russian Nats or (IIRC) at Russian Cup Events.
Probably the situation is clearer now?

Did anyone else retire?

Wow! These are two super talented kids, with teknik, musicality and expression! Finally some wonderbabies! :cheer2:

What was the coach thinking though, making her skate a tango and paso doble in pig tails with bows on them and a dress with puffed up sleeves?
