How so? The Japanese and the top Euro men all tried quads last season (inlcuding Taka's 4flip attempt and VDP's 4/3/3 at Worlds). And on top of that, spins and footwork of the top skaters have never been better. Sure, sometimes they have become overly complex, but the overall quality of spins and footwork have improved leaps and bounds compared to 2002 and even 2006. And choreography and musicality actually get rewarded now - just look at Lambiel's placement at the Olympics.

And this season, Chan attempts 3 quads in 1 competition (so back to 2002 pre-COP standard) but he does it on top of very difficult choreography, footwork and spins.

I didn't mean that. I meant the thread was going towards Lysacek v Plushenko

No, please, NO!!!:yikes:
The one she used at Euros made her look like an old lady. It wasn't flattering at all.

That was a joke. About them probabaly being in the same state as everyone eles waiting for Worlds decision. Hence on "pins and needles" ;)

Ah... I thought you meant one of them got injured and needed acupuncture to be able to start walking again...
I'm glad they're okay.

I second that

The one she used at Euros made her look like an old lady. It wasn't flattering at all.

And I liked that dress. The one she used at the GPF was just terrible, imo. That rose :yikes:

They were on a train headed south of Tokyo when the earthquake hit, and didn't know what had happened until they got to a hotel in Osaka to stay the first night there. The train just stopped running for hours and they didn't know why.

And count Trankov as one of the skaters who definitely prefers worlds in Spring, rather than October.

I'd rather see her in an old lady look (is it bad?) than in that stowns'n'roses monstrosity.

That's so interesting that Johnny had always felt a kinship with the Russians and Ksenia is supposedly very American.

I remember the first time I saw him skate years ago and immediately thought that he skates like a Russian.

Was Ksenia born in the USA? In any case she grew up here (USA), so it's only natural if she feels kinship with the USA. I am sure majority of kids of immigrant parents would feel that way. Johnny's kinship with Russia is more unusual. I too felt that he skated like a Russian (that's why I loved his skating)

I don't think Ksenia was born here. Could someone please clarify?

They need worlds to be in the spring so they can have points toward two GP events, assuming they get one to CoR. I'd like to suggest they get SKAM for the other as I might consider going. :D

I guess... As long as she doesn't wear the aboriginal dance dress, I guess I can learn to deal. I guess it's just the color. Maybe the colors from the grand prix final dress without the rose?

I also much prefer the Euro dress to the GP dress. I think Bobrova looks a lot better in sleeves in general, and allows the shapes (http://visualrian.com/storage2/PreviewWM/8503/58/850358.jpg?1296286536) she makes with her arms (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/ba/European_2011_Ekaterina_BOBROVA_Dmitri_SOLOVIEV_2. jpg/399px-European_2011_Ekaterina_BOBROVA_Dmitri_SOLOVIEV_2. jpg) to stand out (http://visualrian.com/storage2/PreviewWM/8503/63/850363.jpg?1296286493) better against the ice. In the GP dress, her arms kind of disappeared against the ice (http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/gallery_images/photos/000/615/442/GYI0062548040_crop_450x500.jpg?1290293300).

I also agree that the rose detail didn't work on the GP dress, and along with the coloring, I thought it all felt a bit too "frilly" and soft for the melancholic feel of the dance.

I would just get rid of the fold that goes around the collar. Even though I think Bobrova's arms are a strength, her shoulders and upper back are a bit of a weakness and anything that draws attention to that area should go. The fold detail already draws attention, but when they skate it also flaps around a bit along the back.

But I like the length of the dress and the way it moves, I would just lighten on the layers of the dress and take maybe an inch off. It's a tad heavy as is.

The all black costume for him is an improvement over the lacy white one too.
