Just that he is the next big thing and Voronov could be a barrier. Just wondering really. Could have been anyone or it was just Voronov possible paranoia.

Stolbova & Klimov: A Promising Pair (http://goldenskate.com/articles/2010/021311.shtml)

As an Savchenko/Szolkowy uber, I think it's quite neat to see that so many young skaters have named them as inspirations (I/M, now S/K) :o

It's really the first time I hear that the Universiade would be the next most important competition for figure skaters after the Olympic Games, I always thought it was the World Championships.

Well, it's not because a skater said that a competition is the most important one that it is the most important one.
The most important competitions are those that gather the best possible skaters in a given geographic area. It means that Words and Olympics remain the most important ones, and it can be discussed which one among the two is really the most important.

The Universiades don't bring only the best possible skaters in the word, so it can't be the second most important competition after Olympics.

This skater probably tried to get himself some publicity, which is not very mature actually...

Of course he's wrong. But lets not put such a negative spin on his comment. He's just looking for a silver lining in a very disappointing situation. Doesn't make him a bad guy.

Of course he is not a bad guy because of his remark, so "lets not put such a negative spin on [my] comment." :yikes: ;)

Well, at some point he's right. Universiade is student Olympic games, so for IOC, yes, it's the second important competition after Olys. You can't compare Universiade and FS World championships scales in terms of number participants and countries they represent.
But from the ISU point of view it's another story, of course.
