Just need some hugs from my FSU friends. We had to put my 13 year old cat Bandit to sleep this morning. It was definitely time. He has had Inflammatory Bowel Disease for almost 3 years, and we've done a great job managing it, he and I. However, since October he had started going down. I knew the end was near, but you are just never ready for it. I am, to put it bluntly, grieving my heart out. He was my best friend, my constant companion, and one of the sweetest souls I ever met, human or non-human.

Here's to you, my beautiful Bandit. Thank you for all the love. I hope I see you again someday, in whatever kind of heaven there may be, because I do believe in it.

I'm so sorry. I've had to put cats down on two separate occasions and it's just awful, so I know how you feel. At least Nationals is upon us, and, will you consider getting another cat at some time? Maybe that's what Bandit would want? :)

As someone who recently had to put my 15 yr old BelleKitty to sleep, my heart truly goes out to you. It sounds like you were an awesome kitty mommy, and Bandit was lucky to have you as his human.

Richard says he doesn't want any more animals. But, I'm going to work on him. I do think I need to grieve a bit. But if I'm supposed to have another kitty, I trust one will come. And I will welcome it with open arms! Thanks for your sympathy.

So sorry, Holley. A lot of people don't realize that sometimes our best friends have four legs, and not just two.
If, and when, you decide to find another furry friend, please consider rescuing a pound kitty. You'll know which one, the moment you see it.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss, but also glad that Bandit was lucky enough to have you take care of him, especially these past few years. IBD is so tough for both the cat and the owner. My cat is having a bad bout with it right now, and I'm trying to help him through it, once again trying to find food and meds that will work for him, while also bracing myself for the time when I can't help him enough anymore, and hoping that I will recognize it when that time is here. My heart really breaks for you.

That's the only kind of kitty or doggy I would ever get...one who needed me. But I'm afraid my husband is not going to let this happen any time soon. But who knows? If it's meant to be.

Thanks for the Rainbow Bridge as well. I am familiar with it! I've had to say goodbye to many kitties and doggies over my life, but this was the worst goodbye. Bandit was my heart.

I have done that a couple of times, too, and it is always so hard.
But it is better to love and weep after the loved one than not to love at all.
