I've been going digital with my music collection over the last year and now listen to four or five mp3's before I head off to golden slumbers. I have to be careful to pick the upbeat songs as the first few, otherwise by the time the fifth song comes on, I wanna dance instead of sleep! That's what happened last night. The last song to come on was Earth, Wind and Fire! :D

Which made me wonder why I don't have more of their music in my collection. I think all I have is a double album of hits and their 1979 album, "I Am". Perhaps it's time to discover some of their other studio albums.

Until then, I will continue so enjoy all their hits. Have spent the last hour listening to songs that would not fit into this poll, all of which hit the top 40 on the pop charts, or charted high on the R & B charts:

Mighty Mighty - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyRFixbAAuo

So which are your favourite EWF songs? (Vote for all 12 if you like.) :)

EWF is one of my all time faves. I voted Fantasy as I love the harmonies in it.

I had the good fortune of seeing them live in 1973, when they were just starting to get decent airplay on mainstream radio stations. They played and played and played, until everyone in the audience was exhausted. Everyone in the band at the time was a superb musician. Add the funk, and you get one happy audience!

Shining Star - mostly because it there are great high school memories to go with it!

You don't have two of my favorites on here - the sexy Love's Holiday and Be Ever Wonderful, which was very popular as a high school graduation song in my neck of the woods.

I do miss them; R&B is nothing like it was, when someone had to actually be able to play an instrument AND sing....and no one did it like EW&F.

I went to one of their concerts as a teen; lurved it, but got a headache from all the reefer everyone was smoking.

Voted for Shining Star (my personal theme song, a la Ally McBeal) but love 'em all. My true fave is probably one of those you left off the poll, Can't Hide Love. That ending is like a chorus of angels having simultaneous orgasms.

I just think that September is the all-time best dance song ever written.

I love the interaction between Maurice White and Phillip Bailey in so many of their songs, EWF just isn't the same without Maurice. :(

Why exactly isn't he with them anymore? I never got the story on that.

What an odd poll! I love it and EW&F!! I voted for "September", but I also love so many of the others. It reminds me of elementary school, when we used to have roller skating parties. Happy days :).

I play "Let's Groove" in my spinning classes. I love "September", too. Those are probably my top two faves, but they are all great.
