I thought I'd start a thread for this. It's actually live on the West Coast! Yay!

And Ricky Gervais is hosting! I love when he hosts these things.

I'm going to have a lazy Sunday, watching Skate From the Heart now, then watching the Red Carpet, and then the Awards show. E's red carpet broadcast starts at 6:00 E.S.T. NBC starts it's broadcast from the red carpet at 7:00 and the awards show at 8:00 EST, I think. (It's 7 and 8 on the West Coast).

Nominations are here: http://www.goldenglobes.org/nominations/

I think best supporting actor is my favorite category. I thought Jeremy Renner, Christian Bale, and Jeffrey Rush were all great.

Inception is my first choice for best drama, followed by The Fighter and The King's Speech, though I'm guessing that The Social Network is going to win.

I'd be good with either Red or The Kids Are All Right winning best comedy.

I want Colin Firth to win. Nobody else.

I'm also pulling for Hugh Laurie, Jim Parsons, Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer, and The Good Wife.

The awards will be presented in this order (I'm actually watching the NFL which may run overtime):

There's no way Firth won't win, but I'm pulling for Marky Mark :shuffle:

As long as The Kids Are All Right wins the comedy category, I'll be pretty much alright.

Wow, Jennifer Lawrence looked FABULOUS on the red carpet. I would be okay if she pulled an upset and beat Natalie Portman in the lead actress category

My friend didn't believe it when we said that Marky Mark was in The Fighter. I'm not sure how he missed the fact that he has an acting career. I thought he was good in The Fighter, but I do think that Colin Firth was better. In general, I thought the acting was very good in The Fighter, especially from Christian Bale, who I didn't even recognize. It was nice to see Amy Adams do something different; she's a lot more versatile than I thought.

Just saw Ricky Gervais on E. He's planning to start drinking after the opening. Though he claims that beer is a soft drink, not alcohol.

Sofia Vergara :cheer2:

I really, really hope she wins! IMO, she was way better than Jane Lynch so far this season.

I agree, I don't think Jane Lynch has been nearly as strong this season.

ITA, Allen, meanwhile Sofia has been a standout in a cast that's all-around hilarious.

Is Natalie Portman pregnant?

ETA: Oh she is. Still no excuse for the dress. :shuffle:

 That's how I felt. Ugly color, unflattering fabric, and the garish flowers were all awful.

Oh I agree Firth had far stronger performance. But I like to pull for Marky Mark just so I can justify not-so-fond childhood memory of believing that he's the coolest thing on the earth:slinkaway

And Christian Bale is seriously the most talented actor of his generation.

Too bad "Downton Abbey" is on at the same time -- it's not my favorite Masterpiece drama ever, but I'm invested enough that I'm going to stick with it, at least for a while. Thank heaven for Twitter and DVRs -- I can at least keep up with the Globes and then watch the good parts later! :)
