The contestants have arrived in Las Vegas! Finals are a week from this Saturday (Jan 15) on ABC.
The following YouTube film shows each contestant being presented and giving a little speech. Loren, Miss Massachusetts, appears at the 14min35sec mark, if you wish to fast forward. She looks gorgeous and confident...if a tad too short for those huge stairs down the stage...but she negotiates them as gracefully as can be expected!
Go, Loren!

That's so exciting. I can't wait to watch the pageant. LOL at the suddenly ubiquitous Boyz II Men!

Isn't there another skater from Colorado as well?

Loren is going to be a pediatrician. There is also another contestant who is a physician, I believe, from DC?

Best of luck to Loren, but I find it totally ridiculous that this sh*t still goes on.

Before you condemn the MAO, you might read this:

Even for Harvard graduates like Loren, medical school is expensive.

Best of luck to Loren.
(although any "scholarship competition" that requires its winners to be pretty -let's not kid ourselves, has there been a homely Miss America?- is questionable in my books)

I hate this line of argument. Any scholarship program that requires "applicants" to parade around in swimsuits is repulsive.

Is the Miss America pageant even televised anymore? It was on the Country Music Channel a few years ago, then, according to Wikipedia, they didn't it want it anymore and TLC (The Learning Channel) picked it up. Is TLC still broadcasting it this year?

No. I heard that Ice Network will be streaming it live, though. ;)

Why did she lose the Galler- part of her name? It was so weird to see her call herself Loren Rabinowitz.
