Normally, I would not say that something like this is news, but since Johnny wants it to be news -- congratulations Johnny. The book will be juicy! http://www.afterelton.com/people/2011/01/johnny-weir-finally-really-out

Thank you Johnny for being confident enough to share with us. I know you will be a role model for many others who are in similar situations. :respec:

Good for Johnny. He really does do everything HIS way. You have to appreciate that. :)

I smell a new poll- "Who is Alex?"

Shocking, I know.

Apparently, there is an autobiography coming out?

Question is ... which woman would want him as a "husband"

Good for Johnny. :glamor:

I hope that one day figure skating will be a culture that celebrates rather than shuns the diversity of its participants, and each skater who comes out can help the sport get there.

I do think the book would be a good read if he writes in depth about his skating, rationale re programs and competitions, and provides some background as well as 'dirt'.

I wonder what would be said about Evan - googoo eyes, furtive trysts in hotel rooms, etc. JK :D

Um..okay. I liked his skating when he was coached by Priscilla Hill, but not since then. I understand he's trying to stay famous as a media personality, so now tends to say outrageous things just to get attention. That's all fine and good, more power to him if he succeeds. But he needs to realize that as a "personality" like his friends the Kardashians, it goes both ways with the media, he'll need to withstand criticism for the things he says/ does, as well as the wanted publicity.

I like JW; I just don't love or hate him. I mean, I personally don't find JW all that fascinating as a personality the same way I don't find Lady Gaga all that fabulous. Sometimes there's an inverse relationship between outrageous speech/ behavior/ appearance and how genuinely interesting a person actually is.

Well, does anyone thinks that ANYONE at USFSA or involved in Figure Skating hadn't already figured this one out....?

Oh, noooooo!!!! Shocker!!! (ha-ha) Did ANYBODY think that he was not Gay? Maybe Tanith didn't know? (wink)

From the above link:

The big news (or non-news) is that Weir finally, explicitly comes out as gay: "With people killing themselves and being scared into the closet, I hope that even just one person can gain strength from my story."
