It's good that she was happy. But I wonder why she didn't do her pearl spin. I hope it's not a back problem.

I saw her do it in practice last month. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if she has recurring back problems and just saves it for when her back isn't bothering her.

I just realized that you have a YouTube channel! I was looking at one of your videos last night! (Elena and Anton at the Olympics) I am also one of your subscribers!

caroline at glacier falls.
nice program, but very slow, thatīs sad. solid takeoff at the flip, better takeoff at the axel than before. lets see, what will happen in fs.

the user uploaded wagner, hicks and more. hicks is impressive.

Honestly she isn't that slow. There were PLENTY of skaters their her speed or slower. I was actually impressed with how she skated.

I did not think that Carolineīs skating was that slow, actually it reminded me of Kwan.
On the same page I noticed also Miraiīs sp:

The music is a bit heavy sounding, but Mirai does a great job.

It was a club competition. As a GP level skater, she should be faster than everyone else there if she is to have any chance to be competitive nationally or internationally. She's faster than she was before but not enough to significantly impact her scores. I can still read the boards behind her as she skates in the video - always a sign of a slow skater.

The jumps are still not getting any kind of height and they're going up and down on the same spot. Height and ice-coverage (or lack thereof in both cases), adversely affects herr GoE just as much as the wrong edge take-offs.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who thought this - Caroline's flip and loop are even starting to look like Kwan's now!

She didn't look especially slow to me at all, and I was totally expecting her to be. She's not as fast as Mirai, of course, but then who is? I don't know if Caroline will ever get back near the upper ranks, but the improvements she has made thus far are highly commendable.

She definitely was very slow.

Of course, she's not slow when compared to low level skaters but Caroline is a former Junior World Champion and two time Silver Medallist, as well as Four Continents Bronze Medallist. So she should be compared against top level skaters. And compared to them, her speed is very poor indeed.

Having said that, there's been lots of improvements in her skating.

The jump technique is much better. She gets a little more height and take-offs aren't that weird any more.

Everything looked surprisingly solid and polished for a performance that early in the season.

The spins were very strong (although the first part of the layback was totally off-centred).

Shame the choreography is so mediocre, because overall it was a good performance.

I might have to eat my hat, re: her SA spot. :P

I agree, and if you compare CZ to herself, she's much improved. She can't correct everything at once, but she's at least improving rather than declining which seemed the case for the last 2-3 years. I have a soft spot for Caroline and hope she's happier with her skating this season than she has been.

She definitely looks like she's finally settled and is in a much better place now, which is great to see. :)

i have my doubts about her music choice, too but nice, to see the comnbination as the last jump element, havenīt seen that too often.

but again the same layback spin, for the 3rd or 4th season now. itīs still great, but a skater at her level should do something new, itīs getting boring

If you have access to the Kiss and Cry forum, here's the Glacier Falls club competition discussion thread with play-by-play and impressive coverage by the people who were there yesterday: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showthread.php?t=79435 (reports start on page 2)

See my post in the US ladies thread: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showthread.php?p=3255152#post3255152
(Rather than hijack this Zhang thread, can we move this discussion to the general US ladies thread)?
