Loved it, especially Mao's reaction. However it belong to Trash bin rather than Great skae debate page.

It seems like team Japan is like a real TEAM. I know that figureskating is an individual sport but it just appears to me that their comradery is better than team USA. Just an observation.

I love how the Japanese top skaters are such good friends with one another!

Hard to imagine that in most of the other top skating nations...

I can imagine it in Canada

Good point. This could be thought that internationally as far as Canada goes, there are clear cut favs in each discipline from that country. Even in the Oly's, Phaneuf was realistically not going to come close to Rochette, Tessa and Scott were pioneers etc. with no one in their country that could even come close. I mean, realistically, they didn't even HAVE to skate in their nationals and they would have been named to the team. The rivalry is just not as intense on an international level in Canada as in the USA. Especially in the individual disciplines up to last year. This year, our men are kinda hurting with no Ryan, Evan or Johnny. If you remember though, in the USA, take last year, our nationals was pretty brutal actually. In all 4 disciplines. I guess i kinda get why perhaps if you are someone like Mirai Nagasu you may not jump for joy when you see Ashley or Rachel but then again i dont. Or it could be that the skaters from Japan in mens/womens have been fav's for at least 1 complete olympic cycle and they have interchanged coaches and training environments so they really feel like a family...who knows. Either way, it was something to consider.

I am sending this from my cell phone so excuse typos...i'm nothing without spell check LOL.
