I forget who he made this reference to, but the quote was, "This program could use a little more swan and a little less lake"
Was that when Fumie skated her free skate at 2003 Worlds? If it was, I was still so glad she medalled there.

"Her back is so straight, you could iron a shirt on it." Hands down my favorite Button masterpiece.
Second one is Oxalis Bauil. That's what my husband has been calling all oxalis that pops up in our garden. :)

"The position on that layback is first rate!"

"Well, that's an ugly spin." (Yoshie Onda's layback, GPF 2003?)

"That's my least favourite position"

"There's no shizzzle in that twizizzle"

Re Nagasu: Will the souffle souffel?
And about a billion brilliant lines just from skating with the stars :P

"Her spins are just as difficult...just as important...MORE difficult, in fact, than jumps are...."
-referring to Lucinda Ruh's short program at 1999 Worlds & the fact that spins weren't given the same amount of credit as jumps

on being cut from commentating at worlds, he said something like: "it's not the first dinner party i wasn't invited to, and it won't be the last"
12-25-2010, 04:17 AM
"Good for you, Lucinda Ruh!"
"There is an ease and a backbone and a great deal of forceful exposure to making this a good event."
One of the best Uncle Dick interviews ever. I would LOVE to spend a day with him.

He says one high-ranking woman used to skate with her arms so close to her sides it was like she was making "armpit farts."
OK, what is he talking about here? :sekret:
my little pony

"It's raining teddy bears!" after a Michelle Kwan performance.
Also, "Everyone in the arena is standing, including me!" after Rudy Galindo's Nationals win.

My all time favorite - The music of The Fire Bird is taking off but she sure isn't!

My favorite Dick Button is the one I hope to hear while he still has some dignity left. "I shouldn't be doing TV anymore."
True that. There's a reason why he was banned from commentating in the late 2000s. Button was definitely my favorite (American) commentator up until the early-mid 2000s, but he started to lose it quickly thereafter. I will never forgive him for lambasting my precious freakin Liashenko in the 2006 Olympics (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9Jyl6dXaiM). :drama: He was sooo unnecessarily bitchy he even shut up Sandra and Scott...
