I was just given an eyelash curler and have never used one. Do I use it before or after mascara? I also found a mascara base coat from Claudia Stevens on a clearance shelf at Winners that I'm really hoping works almost as well as the cils booster that I can't afford!Does anyone in this thread frequent the Makeup and Beauty blog (http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/)? The author, Karen, has a number of "how to" tips and videos explaining technique. After years of curling my eyelashes "my way," I just tried her way (http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/makeup-tipshow-to/how-to-get-a-natural-lash-curl/) today and it made an incredible difference.

If you like makeup I think you'll like this blog. The author is a little zany (in a good way), and as a bonus for pet lovers, she shares her blog space with Tabs the Cat, international super model (http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/just-for-fun/sundays-with-tabs-the-cat-makeup-and-beauty-blog-mascot-vol-147/) and it-boy.

But to answer your original question, curl before mascara. ;)

I'm trying to pick out new prescription frames online, and I would love some second opinions. I have an oval shaped face that seems kind of pointy at my cheeks and chin.

I want one of these frames from Aya Optical (http://www.ayaoptical.com/).

Skateycat, I'm always a fan of the Jade and Rudy kind of shape, but it's hard to know what will look right on you especially. Are you going to stick with black or a neutral shade or try a fun colour? :)

:shuffle: I wanted to find this thread a few days ago after the skin/foundation consult I had at Sephora, but figured talking about what I bought was in bad taste. But now that it's here... ;) I have joined the cult of Makeup Forever's HD foundation. Wow, is that stuff ever amazing. And I think I finally have a handle on bronzer. I've worn it maybe twice because I just didn't get it and liked my pale skin as is. The artist at Sephora finally showed me why it was necessary, at least when I'm wearing a lot of foundation. I'm still stuck on a proper concealer that won't fall into my fine lines and make them jump out at me when I look in the mirror. She really nailed my dark circles, though!

The best, BEST part of the consult was the money-saving tip she passed on about highlighter. I told her I doubted I'd wear it other than my wedding day, so I was hesitant to buy it. She said an ivory eyeshadow that isn't too shimmery would do the trick!

Has anyone else tried the Murad line? I picked up their T-Zone refining serum, and it's supposed to be amazing. I'm just finding it's hard to wear moisturizer over top of it, even if I wait awhile. And sometimes I can't wait forever to put it on.

It is hard to know! If the designs weren't so unique and appropriate for me, I wouldn't bother with the unpredictability of ordering them online. I'm willing to buy two pairs, try them on and send one pair back.

I'm going to stick with black for my glasses, saving the fun colors for other parts of my wardrobe. But hmm, the Brown/Blue Tahlia might be good.

I have a smallish face, and I think that Rudy & Sisley would overwhelm me, so one of the other four. I'm a little hesitant about the look of the steel arms on Ashley, but their shape is like my current glasses, so I'm not rejecting it outright.

So, I got an email last week from CoverGirl saying that I've won a free product (based on the fact that I "liked" them on Facebook.) I don't know what it will be, but obviously I'm hoping it's mascara. :)

You have to add the MyCoverGirl app, but then you are in.

I'll have to give that a try. Upthread I asked about a cream blush and someone recommended Makeup Forever, so I bought it. I LOVE it!! It really does stay on all day...shocking!

Since I loved the blush so much, I may like the foundation too.

I ordered the Selma (http://claudiaalan.com/retail/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=41&osCsid=7b105e7b20d05e905fe38b76cf30cac2), Esme (http://claudiaalan.com/retail/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=47&osCsid=7b105e7b20d05e905fe38b76cf30cac2) and Sisley (http://claudiaalan.com/retail/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=57&osCsid=7b105e7b20d05e905fe38b76cf30cac2). I'll see which one I like best and send the others back.

Now I have another question for this thread. I've never worn makeup. I wouldn't know where to start, but I am feeling kind of frumpy and untiffed. If I were to add one tiffing thing to my daily routine, what would it be? Or, where would you start if you were me?

The make up pros that have a channel on Youtube and were suggested before in the thread i.e. Pixiwoo, Lisa Eldridge are great when it comes to learning techniques.
Personally I always start from the eyes, especially if you have to deal with powder eyeshadow where fall off can occur, then do the foundation, then concealer, eyebrows, powder and blush, when I wear it that is. I have a bit of rosacea so sometimes I just cover the part where the pinkness in down the cheek and leave it natural on the apples
If you have to add one tiffing thing that would be mascara in my opinion. In general, if your skin is good you can get away wearing not much make up.

One thing, huh? I'd say mascara. Mascara or maybe some nice cream blush.

Makeup is a slippery slope, though - first I'm just putting on concealer, and then wouldn't some blush look nice? and suddenly it's foundation, 5 different eyeshadows, liner, highlighter, the whole 9 yards.

I'm actually enjoying my no makeup summer (stopped bc skin got really bad) *hands in Glamour Puss card* :yikes: :scream:

This fixes problems like that:

http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P37621&categoryId=B70

I am SO getting that.

And just wanted to add that Sephora just opened a store in my hometown. Wheeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Now just have to get myself over there with babySkate in tow...easier said than done but where there's a will, there's a way. :D

Isn't it just the best??? Mine just ran out so I am off to purchase another. Rare for me to re-purchase anything so the fact that it won me over to do another purchase says alot.

That may have been me. I LURVE their blush and foundation. It is the best I've ever tried and lasts all day on my skin which is a first as my skin is classic T-zone, so foundation usually slids off the centre of my face and blush fades off the drier skin on my cheeks. Just FYI...their cream eyeshadows last all day too. :D
