Over the top is putting it mildly! :lol:
Besides the fact that Act II is set in a nuthouse, it seemed as if Giselle was bonkers all along, and finding out that Albrecht had a thing going on with Hilarion sent her over the edge. There was also the giant egg that the dancers kept rolling around the stage, the crazy women being given their pills, and a stark-naked Albrecht thrashing around on the floor. Not to mention the giant male organ on the backdrop. :eek:
Cygnus is fortunate I did not burst out into hysterical laughter and get myself evicted from the theatre!

Some things are better left to the imagination. I think this clip might be one of them. :P

Still a bit bummed I couldn't make it to DC for Giselle last month due to work, but I did get to see a performance of Christopher Wheeldon's Swan Lake from the PA Ballet yesterday. :cheer2: It was interesting not being spoiled as to whether it'd be a sad or happy ending version, but if the end of Act II was any indication I'd have probably been welling up were it the former. It really is a wonderful ballet and the music is sublime (and I love how practically the entire score has been used in skating!)

Still not the Royal Ballet from a few years back but I strongly suspect much better than the NYC version.
