Rachael isn't going to get the PCS that she got last year at Nationals this year. No way.

That may be the difference this time around..

I would like a podium of Czisny, Wagner and Nagasu but I haven't decided in what order. I don't want to see any of the three miss Worlds.

Czisny missing Worlds would be crushing given the season she has had, the great programs she got, and the improvements she has made.

If Wagner doesn't win the title or make Worlds again my feeling is she never will.

Nagasu is probably US's best bet for a medal.

I am more inclined still to put Wagner third just because I like her programs least out of these three and medalling at 4CCs (if she can) is still pretty cool.

I would like to see Ashley do a great SP at Nats. IMHO she should go for the 3F,3T combo and ditch the 3Z for a 3L instead. I am afraid, however, we are still going to see the e3Z from here. I think it is going to be Alyssa and Mirai that botch the SP this year leaving maybe Wagner, Flatt, and Zawadski as the front runners into the Free Skate with Ashley coming out on top. Zawadski will crumble in the free allowing Alyssa or Nagasu to capture Bronze.

I don't think Mirai has crumbled in the SP recently... So the chances of that happening are close to zero. For Alissa, on the other hand, it's possible.

And considering Alissa's scores this season, I think the judges are ready to give a medal to her at Worlds.

I think that if Gao and Zawadzki skate really well, their PCS will be quite high and that is Wagner and Flatt don't skate their best, their PCS won't be as high as they have been in previous seasons and potentially we could have a situation where Gao and/or Zawadzki are getting very comparable PCS as Flatt and Wagner but beat one or both of them due to TES. Mirai and Alissa will likely have a PCS buffer over the others, but if they bomb even their PCS won't necessarily keep them on the podium. I think there will be a spoiler in the ladies podium. I doubt Nagasu, Czisny, Flatt, and Wagner will be the podium this year, at least some other lady will probably sneak in there.

Apparently she flew to Toronto a few weeks ago to work with Lori Nichol on a new SP.

Thanks! :)

For those wondering about Taylor Firth, she is touring with Disney on Ice's "Toy Story 3" and seems to be enjoying the experience: http://the330.com/featured/teen-skater-lands-role-in-toy-story-for-disney-on-ice/

I WAS wondering about Taylor and have ever since Ice Castles, well...bombed.

I know you can't compare scores from competition to competition blah blah blah - but Alissa Czisny is currently #1 on the ISU season's best list for 2010/2011 with her GPF total:

http://www.isuresults.com/isujsstat/sb2010-11/sbtslto.htm

That's great but it reminds me a little bit of Sasha Cohen-wasn't she the number 1 ranked skater at some point after winning a few GPs? But sigh..never at a Worlds or Olympics-well at least she won Nationals once. Anyway I just hope Alissa keeps it together in the SP-I love love both her programs this year, especially the LP but that SP at Nationals is key imo.

Just watched the video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmwJAyesvJE) of Alissa at the Detroit Skating Club's Nationals Send-off. Mistakes on all all 3 jumping elements in her SP. She just loves to keep us guessing right to the very end...

Yes, just when I think it's safe to believe again...

I don't particularly dislike Rachael, but there's no way she can match what Michelle Kwan did with that music, and IMO, it's a mistake for her to try. She'll look worse by comparison. Doesn't Lori Nichol have any original ideas?

Long Island Newsday article (Dec. 25) on Samantha Cesario (she's been dealing with "inflammation around a disc in her back"): http://www.newsday.com/sports/cesario-preps-for-figure-skating-nationals-1.2569236
This article is only available to paying subscribers now, but apparently this back injury has caused Cesario to withdraw from Nationals. :( Jenna posted this hearsay news today in the US Nationals forum and I can confirm it, even though Cesario's name is still listed in Nationals Practice Group A for the time being. She will be replaced by Raina Narita, who scored 44.05 (SP), 74.93 (FS), and 118.98 (Total) to place 5th at Easterns. This will be Narita's first-ever trip to "big" Nationals. Best wishes to Samantha for a full recovery so we can see her next season!

aw! I kinda thought maybe she was going to have a breakthrough year at Nationals this time around. Happy for Raina tho.
