Reading about these creative banners at the Cup of Russia just made my day!

The mysterious disappearance of this one just calls for speculation...

LOL maybe someone of these ladies stole it???

And anyone got a photo of the multiplying mushrooms?

The "Judge and no mushrooms" banner got multiplied and today there are 5 pictures of the mushrooms on the boards.

Please kindly share your favorite banner photos, stories! Of course, I will never forget the "Heavenly Creature" one for Queen Yuna!

OMG that Javi banner cracked me up!

I love all the Tomas Verner banners, they travel around the world and I see them all at every competition he takes part. Nice to see the devotion of the fans. :)

:D thanks :)

Tomas told me today that when he and his new coach came into the arena and saw all the banners, his new coach commented that: "oh, wow, so many banners, the people really must love you here!" I said that he ain't seen nothing yet. :shuffle: (I know, I'm bad. So is my Japanese friend. When we are both present at an event: it's insane. )

Also this morning when I wanted to go out for practice, there were 2 girls on the computer here on some Russian forum. I saw a picture of one my banners as they were scrolling, so I commented that it was mine. They got all excited, wanted to see it and take a picture with me and the banner.

I remember a huge banner for Joubert; it might have been in Japan but I'm not certain. It was very impressive and had obviously taken a huge amount of time and effort, but on it were emblazoned the words 'GO BRAIN!'. :biggrinbo

Oh no, GO BRAIN?!

Here is a mushroom (http://picasaweb.google.com/aka.pushkin/2010CoRMenSP?authkey=Gv1sRgCJSx-bO_7_2A9QE#5541257115357555906)!

More banner photos of everyone else who was not at CoR

LMAO That's hysterical. Poor girls. They may not be the best spellers but they're the best fans. lol

I'm amazed that fans take banners for people who are not even skating at the event. I heard there were some Johnny ones there. Fans above and beyond.

Last year I went to rostel and there was a huge Yagudin one hugging, and this year i saw on tv both yagudin and plushenko's heads floating in the arena

My favorite was years ago, before the Internet even. Petrenko had just started skating with COI. One of his biggest fans wanted to make a special sign for him. She requested something along the lines of "I love you Viktor", in Russian. The sign maker um... spiced it up a bit until it read more like "I want you Viktor. Eat me now". Of course nobody clued fan in to what the sign actually said. She waved it overhead smiling like crazy any time Petrenko skated by.

I quite like the ones that use the skaters name to spell something. I can't remember exactly, but there was one for Alexander Abt that went something like:

I used to make alternatives up in my mind like:

I just wanna know who made the "HUBBELLS HOT" banner at Cup of Russia.

So delicious... precisely because it's so wrong. :saint:

Look for this one on January 9 during the Skating and Gymnastics Spectacular :)

Didn't someone at 2009 Skate America have a MARRY ME SASHA COHEN one?
