Hi everyone -

I know every once in a while folks will ask for help voting for various contests. I really didn't want to have to ask, but I really need the support, if you're willing.

If we were to win it would make all the difference in the world to us. We're non-profit and struggling financially to make ends meet after having to repair and update our facilities. We have no electricity and no running water. The faciliites are very basic but building and health codes change and then we have to keep up - understandably. It has left us unable to make positive changes that the campers directly enjoy. We refuse to raise fees as already a huge percentage of our campers cannot afford the fees (and they come on scholarships.... we don't turn anyone away).

Anyways, please give a few minutes to vote at: http://www.avivacommunityfund.org/ideas/acf9239 You can vote every day.

If you'd like to read more about why I think it's important, see: http://www.ericaleedesigns.com/blog/2010/11/please-do-me-a-favour/

And if you'd like to learn a bit more about the camp this is helping to benefit, see: http://www.strawberrypoint.org

We need to be top 10 to advance and we keep hovering just shy of 10th place. Each and every vote will really help us. Thanks in advance to anyone that helps.

Thank you so much everyone! I cannot express how much this camp means to me and how much this project would help us. Should we ultimately be awarded funds, I'll be overseeing the project and making sure every penny is well used. We're all volunteers (and we have volunteer labour to build stuff) so we make the dollars go far. And should we get there, I look forward to keeping everyone in the loop as the project progresses.

Yes, you get 10 votes per round... max of one vote per idea per day. This round ends in 8 days.

I think I voted. :) It didn't say "your vote has been counted" or anything -- it just took me to a page where you're supposed to register. Do you need to register in order to vote?

Yes.

The registration process is simply to control votes - and as long as you're careful not to check off any boxes that say you want to be emailed ... you won't be spammed and no personal information is shared with the group(s) you vote for (i.e. I have no idea of the names, email addresses, etc of the people who have voted for my cause... even if they post a comment, I only know the username they chose).

We are currently in 12th place. You can check out the leaderboard at http://www.avivacommunityfund.org/home/search/grid/page:1/cost:1/sort:Idea.vote_count/direction:desc

I really appreciate everyone's support - it's tight competition and a lot of worthy causes... this is helping give us a real chance.
