With Patrick Chan per Sarah Brannen and Drew Meekins. I have three words:

"Folie a Deux."

For those of you who are not familiar with psychiatric conditions, you may want to google it. :P

I just realized that I left off the "e" on Debutante. Was that a Freudian slip or what?

I am slightly lost here. What debutante ball are we talking about?

While I've gotten some feedback from some who disapprove of what I've written, everyone is entitled to their opinion. And, I've seen far worse comments on this forum than this one. In fact, to some degree, I was making fun of myself.

The idiomatic translation of the term, Folie a Deux speaks to two individuals, who share the some madness or delusional system. Just an observation based on events of the past three weeks; they can easily reinforce their IMHO, each other's frame of reference. That I believe that both of them are in dire need of a reality orientation is another thing.

That I believe that both of them are in dire need of a reality orientation is another thing.I think Rachael and Patrick have a pretty good grip on reality. I don't see any harm with them going to a debutante ball - I'm sure they're looking at it as a fun thing to do with their free time - both are finished high school and haven't started college yet. Sheesh, Rachael can't get a break - if she said she was staying home every night to review physics, she'd probably get grief, too.

In any event, going to a debutante ball is hardly an indication of mental imbalance. Unlike certain uber fan behaviors, including but not limited to taking meds to get through your skater's programs, cursing loudly and sobbing hysterically when your skater doesn't do well, and loudly bashing every other skater in the event. Now there's some insanity.

Skating fans have actually behaved that way? Even for ubers, that's

My family thinks I care too much because I post on a skating forum. :shuffle:

I actually think that it is kind of sweet. And I am sure that Patrick will look quite handsome as one of Rachael's escorts.

Do you have something against cotillion?

No, I have nothing against cotillions or debutante balls. I'm just talking about her choice of escort. Birds of a feather:P Sorry for being obtuse.

I guess my head is too clogged full of flu/cold sludge, because I know what "Folie a Deux" is but still have no idea what you're getting at here. Unless this is yet another "Teehee, someone's pretending they're not gay" thread, in which case .

No, there's no subterfuge here. I just think that both of them have inflated opinions of themselves, that's all.

Maybe she could ask Patrick how you fall 4 times and still win.

Patrick has already been the subject of one of those. Remember when he told a reporter he originally wanted to play hockey?

A lousy skater will get low scores for a great program.

But a great skater will get high scores for a lousy program.
