France are favourites in the betting. I'm going to guess that you hate the song. ;)

I forced younger little Finnice to listen to it. I donīt know why I wanted to torture my very nice son:wideeyes:

I loved Amina !! And the song before that by Joelle Ursule (Black and White).
The rest ... are all to forget IMO.

As for the "song", just heard it. It looks like something Josh Groban could sing.
I HATE Josh Groban. :P

I have just realised that I won't be able to watch Eurovision this year because I'll be on vacation, far away from my telly :)

Eurovision is funded through contributions from the host broadcasters and by sponsorship so don't fret. Do you worry about your taxes going up every time France hosts a sporting event?

Well, that's not entirely correct. Our television licence went up with about 400 NOK (approx $ 70) last year only because we were the host country, and NRK had to sell their World Cup 2010 rights to fund it. :(

The glass didn't break for Eric Saade yesterday during his rehearsal. Apparently the producers had not put enough gunpowder in the walls, so he was trapped inside his cage. Hopefully they have that sorted out before Thursday (which they of course will) but apparently it looked ridiculous.

I'd forgotten about that. :o

Our TV licence didn't go up at all even when we hosted it three times in a row (and four times in five years). I suppose it was half the size it is now though.

More rehearsals up on YouTube.

Bulgaria - she just stands there and sings, not enough, definitely no final babe

Macedonia - he sings partly in English and has decent dancers, positive surprise :)

Israel - I don't understand why she has 5 backing singers and no dancers, there is some choreography but it all looks a bit meh

Slovenia - boring song, boring staging

Estonia - very good staging, might be a dark horse

Romania - zzzzzz....

Belarus - nice costumes and microphone stands but the performance is too static

Latvia - meh

Denmark - they're all gay, innit; this is as bland as Coldplay :blah:

Ireland - they are so freakin' annoying... they can't sing but the choreography is great

Poland - WTF IS SHE WEARING?!!, shockingly bad costumes!
vocals were good though, choreography was tight, a decent job

So that's all the first rehearsals done. :)

I think it's not just the fact that there are more countries and two semis but also how lavish the staging now is.

Gigantic stages, covered with LCD screens, smoke machines, lasers, fires, etc. All that must be super expensive.
