5. Slovakia - "I'm Still Alive" - TWiiNS

Immediate Thoughts: Bratislava's answer to The Corrs, but what's up with the extra i?

6. Ukraine - "Angel" - Mika Newton

Immediate Thoughts: Inoffensive enough, but Ukraine have a habit of putting on a good show and qualifying.

14. Romania - "Change" - Hotel FM

Now for the finalists:

1. France - "Sognu" - Amaury Vassili

Immediate Thoughts: Very Sarah Brightmanesque. In need of someone on stilts or a rhythmic gymnast for some :inavoid:

2. Italy - "Madness Of Love" - Raphael Gualazzi

Immediate Thoughts: Well, it's different. I kind of like it.

3. United Kingdom - "I Can" - Blue

Immediate Thoughts: UK's strongest entry for a long while.

4. Germany - "Taken By A Stranger" - Lena Meyer-Landrut

Immediate Thoughts: Very unusual. Not sure if it's Eurovision winning material. but then again I didn't think that about her song last year.

5. Spain - "Que Me Quiten Lo Bailao" - Lucia Perez

Immediate Thoughts: Spain, you are the weakest link (of the Big 5 this year). Goodbye.

12. Israel - "Ding Dong" - Dana International

Immediate Thoughts: Still can't believe she's singing a song with "dong" in the title. Catchy though.

In the Israeli Kdam there was a mention that lyrics of "Ding Dong" are personal for Dana. So maybe there is a good reason for having the "dong" in the song.
BTW, last part of it in Hebrew goes like this:

Praise this day that brings you this night
Praise the time that will light you up
And will bring you salvation

הללי את היום שמביא לך את הלילה
הללי את הזמן שיאיר אותך
הוא גם יביא לך גאולה

Semi 2:

7. Moldova - "So Lucky" - Zdob Si Zdub

Immediate Thoughts: There's an angel gnome playing a flute on a unicycle and you expect me to comment on the song?

 at least someone is bringing the :inavoid:

8. Sweden - "Popular" - Eric Saade

Immediate Thoughts: Did all the good Swedish songwriters emigrate?

I think it's an unfortunate combination of frakking Fredrik Kempe having written half the songs in the field (this particular one is a complete rip off of an old 80ies Eurovision (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0ZneSo60K) song too, incidentally that one had less inane lyrics) and all the teenage girls voting for Saade. He looks like a little puppy :dog: though and he had pretty :grope: dancers.

5. Slovakia - "I'm Still Alive" - TWiiNS

Immediate Thoughts: Bratislava's answer to The Corrs, but what's up with the extra i?

One i for each twin I'd guess.

Greece has voted in the semi-finals (and after hearing the rest of the songs, Greece isn't as bad as I thought :shuffle: )
