Fun reading, this thread. :)

I go back to FSW (different name), and remember when Sharpie first started/took over FSU and how horrid and unpleasant I'd found the folks and the snark at the time. Another formerly "uptight" one here, I guess. Then I stopped following skating for a bit and somehow didn't register on here until 2005 or so but have been a lurker mostly due to lots of travel, moving and life changes.

I had once asked iSkater to use some of the stills/screen shots from their PBP for a website. They wanted $70USD for one capture, and they were crap anyway. Wrote that Helen lady a rather terse email about how this kind of pricing and policy aimed to kill skater fanpage development. :P

Chuckie :yikes:

I occasionally lurk on GS but won't join because I know I would get banned, probably for repeatedly mocking Joesitz, the self-appointed Dick Button of that board.

I remember Joesitz too.

As for being banned, I'm not sure, but I think I was banned by Adrian from SkatingForums. I know I did once get the red screen of death on FSW, although they claimed it was just a technical problem, like I would believe that. :P

I heard about the red screen of death and was naive enough to believe that people had technical problems. Never associated it with banning, but like I said I was extremely naive.

Ain't skared of you. :P

But I's skared of BlueRidge.

Remember the "Uncensored Board"? I think it was started by some who were banned by other boards for being a bit risque.

I vaguely remember the Uncensored Board.

:drama: I am so old.

I'm pretty sure she was DeBASHmode or something very close to that here, which is where the Bash nick came from.

Bash also ran the Plush Room, my first skating message board. Then it got overrun by tweens and I fled here.

Some of those tweens are here now. But they aren't tweens anymore. :drama:

SashaFans had a couple of serious weirdos back in the day. Remember the crazy lady who kept posting page after page about how Michelle Kwan's coral/pink/orange Tosca dress was an inappropriate color for Tosca, and after being soundly beaten down by people who didn't even like Michelle, resorted to claiming that she (Kwan) had staged the 2004 Worlds streaker incident on purpose to get attention?

I think I remember that, haha, if it was 2004 then that was quite awhile ago for me!

I think every skater had a board back in the day, and I can't hardly remember 1/2 of them or even the ubers and trolls. perhaps that's a good thing. ;)

I just remember a lot of the comments, not who said them. One of my favorites was this really circular discussion about how having a triple lutz meant that your presentation scores should automatically higher than someone who did not. Somehow, that discussion got extremely heated and like 4 people got banned.

This is the highlight of my life right now.

I was one of those tweens! Okay, I was like 15 or 16. Whatever. Oh, good memories, man. Same with SashaFans back in the day with the gratuitous banning and hysterical discussions.

I'm fairly certain I might have been banned if I'd been posting during the MK Tara War. I was in grad school and too busy for the internet and had to suffer and shout obscenities about Tara all by myself. So, since I would have been banned, it's not necessary for Prancer or WS to bother themselves. Really, it's not. You are busy so just move along to take care of stuff. I may have to go find a post to report so they'll have things to do. Actually I have a few days off. *checks her nails nonchalantly* And "would have been banned" doesn't really count, you know. :P You have to be able to show your battle wounds.

The only board I was banned at, that I remember at least, was a board I never even posted on (and would never try, brr). It was an ezboard board and I had a global ezboard account. One day I went there and got You've been banned screen. But they still stole my translations from another board (I don't think they even gave me any credit). I always found it kind of funny, in a messed up way.

Was that the one that consisted of mostly gay men porning over male skaters? That was :yikes: and  And claiming that every male skater was gay, at least those they were lusting over. Then again, they thought Todd Eldredge was gay, too, of course, so I guess they thought all of them were gay. Maybe except for Elvis.

When I left there, she took it to FSW in what was called The Romper Room. That was the board I referred to as Nightmare on Elm Street. I think she got quite a beating there after a short time. Btw, it was Bash who set up the board. I would never mistake one for another. Bash, from what I've known her around the early 2000s, has been one of the most decent and fair people I've met on the boards.

I think I was banned at PITI. If I ever posted there it was only once or twice and I have a vague recollection of accusations of being a lurking spy. My memory could well be faulty, though.
