I simply can not see this 2 songs together. The was a huge  in my mind when I saw Etta James and Ting Tings in the same programs. The trophy for most odd combination of songs for 10/11 seasn goes to.....Kerrs!!:cheer::encore:

John gave some sort of explanation about this on their forum (http://absoluteskating.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=sinead&thread=4396&page=2#210888):

It was after performing 'Shut up and let me go' as an exhibition in Japan that we thought it would be interesting to use as a quickstep in conjunction with 'At last'. Prior to that we had been planning on using a different song.

The main reason the pieces are complimentary is because they are so different and thus there is a real juxtaposition when one ends and the other begins. The other reason it works well as that we are mainly using the non-vocal part of 'Shut up and let me go'.

Sorry, John. Much as I love you, I still don't get it, vocals or no.

Thanks. The program seems to be in it's developing stages, but I think it will become more effective when she gets more comfortable with it.

I wish she went to someone else besides Tarasova for the choreography though. To me, the choreography feels kinda stale. Mao, as usual, has beautiful posture and line, but it doesn't seem like a particularly thoughtful piece of choreography which is a problem I've had with Tarasova for a while. Again, it's early and the program can improve.

I agree. I am at the moment do not know what to think of it. There are a few factors I can think of:
a) Mao said, in one of her interviews, that she had been concentrating on fixing her jump techniques so much that she had not been able to practice the programmes much; and
b) she was in Russia for choreographing only for three days, meaning Tarasova had to choreograph three programmes in just three days.

The biggest problem I have is that I cannot see / imagine a partner in this - I mean, as it is tango, I expect to be able to at least feel the presence of a man in this programme, whom she is dancing with or she is trying to communicate through her dance - something like that. But perhaps it is my problem - it doesn't necessarily mean a single skater has to dance tango just because she / he has chosen to skate to the music tango. (Akiko Suzuki's SP is also tango and she does dance tango though.)

I won't make my mind up just yet though. I hope she will make it her own and put some soul in it in time for the GPS. It'll be a tough season for her, as she is now rebuilding her jump skills almost from the scratch, and at the same time she must feel a lot of pressure to win another gold at the Worlds on her own home soil. Good luck, Mao!

I think mao's sp music could have been stronger that's part of it as well. It's ok but not exciting nor that beautiful of music. I liked the ladies in lavendar type stuff better.

The program is nice, but that's about all I can say about it. The music isn't particularly interesting so combined with the average choreography, it becomes just an okay program. I was hoping for something a little more dynamic for Mao. I wish she would go visit Miamoto for choreography instead.

I like Mao's new SP. The first time I heard the music, I loved it, but now I think it's okay. I was also expecting something more dynamic, like her Tango exhibition from 2008/2009, which was amazing! We're still in the beginning of the season and the program has time to get better!

A fabulous tango is the one dance by a hot longilign couple on the floor

so...I'm tired of tangos on ice...it is such a huge cliche.

I agree, I love Tangos on the dance floor, but I can only think of a couple tango programs on the ice that I really even liked much.
