Briley Casanova fell off beam. Lots of balance checks and a tight routine overall. But she has got the :D

I like the look of Briley's gymnastics. Hopefully she'll use this meet as an experience builder.

They might need to bring in some holy water and splash it on the cursed beam....

I liked Zamarripa, though, fall and all.

Zam wont be making this team because of beam but she needs to prove she can be used in an emergency because her only real contribution would be vault. It is hard to ask to be taken for vault only when a multiple world medalist on vault is vying for a spot and she is much more useful on at least one other event.

Briley reminded me a lot of Elise Ray, not necessarily her gymnastics but just her face.

Damn, bars is in a bad place right now. I hope some awesome bars worker comes out of the wood works before London.

I know! But the only juniors who seem to have potential on bars is Ohashi & Weiber.:o And Ohashi won't be eligible until after London.

A gem from Tim Daggett:

"The way Rebecca Bross is competing right now is the way you would expect her to compete...ummm...all the time."

:duh:

True. But bars is the easiest apparatus to build a big lead on, so it is a big hole for the US.

The only way the US could swallow their UB deficit is to find 3 amazing Amanars to put in team finals and best of luck with that. Even that may not be enough when the Chinese are done with their UB rotation.

It is funny because the US dominated bars for quite a while.

If I had a dime for every competition I have to hear Tim Daggett mope about how "we aren't seeing the stuck landings on vault." I mean, honestly, with these really difficult vaults it is RARE for them to be stuck. This is not 1984 anymore, you aren't always expected to stick your vault.

Exactly.

If the US isn't careful, it might not be just China that they'll have to worry about. Russia and maybe even Japan will be threats within the next 2 years.

I don't know if we should be freaking out yet. There are a number of U.S. girls with D-scores in the 6's, and there's still time to fine-tune and upgrade before London. Yes, we're at a deficit compared to the Chinese and Russians on bars, but they have their weak events too. Anything can happen in 3-up 3 count.
