I still don't know what happened to MK's dresses this and last year. The white one looked like a practice dress. smh I did love the black sequined one she wore last year for the closing at ATSK09 (IIRC).

Oh and, Scott Moir (http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/1498/scottm.png) is a very elegant man, no?

little notes/tidbits from icenetwork

Nancy reported that the arena was full, but the crowd was a bit subdued. In the audience, she spotted supermodel Cheryl Tiegs, Amy Smart (Felicity), Kelly Osborne, Brad Goreski (The Rachael Zoe Project), Ilia Kulik with his daughter, Jeremy Abbott and Denis Ten.

HD cam version of Belbin & Agosto's Use Somebody from the 2nd day show.

They do drop the scarf during the performance but make a nice recovering job. :) Otherwise, a great program.

I don't understand why people talk so much about Michelle weight. She don't compete anymore and still...she is looking fabulous. Same thing with Johnny, he is not looking fat at all, the problem is his tight costumes. people have diferent body types, what can they do?

Agreed. People can't compare Michelle to Yuna because Yuna is 3 inches taller with much longer limbs. I mean, very few 5'2" women are ever going to have long limbs because they are just short, and further, due to the demands of ice skating, strong muscles are a must and will cause legs and arms to look thicker than someone who doesn't have much muscle on them. Even when Michelle was at her thinnest, she never had the long, thin limbs like Yuna has, they are just different builds, but that doesn't mean Michelle is chunky. Michelle is built more similarly to Joannie Rochette and they both look super fit and great despite not having the willowly ballerina type body Yuna has.

HAH I was wondering about that. Tanith dropped it and gracefully skated over to pick it up again so I wondering if it was a mistake.

Michelle is a mesmomorph while YuNa is an ectomorph. Michelle is probably close to if not a lean as YuNa. It has to do with body type, IMO. I agree with you!

Thank you for putting it in scientific terms. Yes, Michelle is mesomorphic and Yuna ectomorphic. They are both lean and fit. Michelle looks beautiful in that white dress. Nobody is chunky, just of different body type.

I want to see this progran again on Tv, really nice program...funny fact because since 2007 I don't pay much atention on this team. I think their retirement brought the "light" back to them. Good to see that again ;)

Actually that's not entirely true. Height does not automatically corollate with having long limbs, just as being petite doesn't mean one has short limbs. I've seen quite a few tall people with long torsos and short legs. Famous Russian ballerina in the 70s-80s, Natalia Makarova is 5'2" and renowned for her long limbs. Current ballerinas from the Mariinsky and Bolshoi such as Katya Osmolkina, Natalia Osipova, Evgenia Obraztsova, and Ekaterina Krysanova to name just a few, are all 5'3" or under and definitely not short-limbed by any definition.

Skating will build up one's quadriceps to the degree that one's legs, if prone to muscularity, will appear to be bulky or chunky. That's why in ballet, serious students and professional dancers are discouraged to take up skating. It's all about keeping a sleek line, which is more important on the stage than on the ice. Unlike dancers, skaters are constantly gliding in smooth motion and their bodies are seen by the audience from all sides, so having beautiful lines aren't requirements but more like a bonus.

michelle has never been "fat" but I don't agree with the idea that her body type is just more "big boned" either. I keep on hearing comments recently about that all over the web, as if ppl forget she's a grad student who hasn't competed in years, she's not in competition mode. most women would love to have her current body

look how thin and delicate she was during her competition years

on skates her legs never looked "short" at all either. she's just not as long limbed as yu-na. but why would you compare a 20 year old at her peak to a retired 30 year old. when someone's as tiny as michelle, even five pounds seem to make a big difference
