Miki looks fabulous! Her white dress is very pretty and I wonder if the blue dress she wore is for one of her competitive programs.

:biggrinbo

Akiko!

Japanese male skaters often try quad jump at the finale of last show in Japan to celebrate the ending of the successful show.
Tonight they did that again at Friends on Ice show.

Both Takahiko and Evan nailed quad (see the news clip below).
Evan's first try opened it up and doubled it, but he immediately tried another one and nailed it.
Given that fact that he has not been practicing so much lately, I think this is quite impressive! :)

But it is equally or more impresssive is that fellow skaters were jumping with joy after seeing their friends nailing quads.
It is indeed "Friends on Ice"

Hi there to anyone who went to the show,

Is it possible for anyone to write a report? Who skated what - crowd reaction, all the good stuff the rest of us missed?

Many thanks if you can.

Edited to add that there are reviews (Takahashi focused) at http://daisuke-takahashi.megabb.com/all-the-gala-in-english-f7/friends-on-ice-2010-t774-30.htm

I went to watch two shows on Sunday. Not sure about the musics because I do not have a program.

- before the opening
greeting and attention announcement by Shizuka's voice, to turn off mobile phones and all.

- Opening
There is a big circle by curtain, hang from the ceiling. Four Vancouver medalists go hide in the circle as it comes down. The rest of the cast do their tricks around the curtain. Then the audience get to see the medalists' silhouette on the curtain. It is surprisingly easy to tell who's who just by the shadows :)
The circle goes up and the cast unites, and the names are introduced.

- Kids and women
This year there are same ten girl skaters in every show, doing a group number.
Most of them look like 10-15yo but there is one tiny girl who looks like three or four. Naturally she gets all the attention :). She does a quite good stand spin and bunny hops.
The "women" are Shizuka, Miki, Yuka, and Shae-Lynn. The kids and the lades do not do much together but rather two separate programs, just with one finishing pose.

- Akiko Suzuki
Belly dance. Her muscles in the abs and the back is
The crowed loves the program. The guys next to me were very amused at that female spectators give screams for a female skater.

- Yamato Tamura
I do not recognize the music but sounds like a ballad. Short cantilever.

- Belbin/Agosto
It is a program with a story, a boy and a girl growing up together. They change costumes 3 times during the program. It is fun and refreshing. I love the program, especially the part Tanith skips rope on the ice, and the part Ben pulls Tanith's pony tail

- Takeshi Honda
The one he skated in JSOI this year.
In the afternoon show, he stepped out all the jumps and after the bow, he practiced checking jumps by spreading the arms. Then in the second program he landed all the jumps without stepping out :)

- Shae-Lynn Bourne
There is a male vocalist on the ice and she skated to his song. After the program they kiss on the mouth.

- Ilia Kulik
White T shirt and pants, with black belt and boots.
To the music Korean male singers singing in Japanese.
He is still very, very fast and lands 3z. I love how he speeds up with no push or anything :swoon:

- Shizuka Arakawa
Jazz... I think. "I got the rhythm" in the lyrics but not the original one.
The costume is great as usual.
After Torino, she gets thinner and thinner every year and now her torso looks as thin as Qing Pang. Yet her move is crisp and jumps are very solid.

- Evan Lysacek
Fire black bird.

After the program he gets a microphone and talked about Olympics, thanks to the fans and please enjoy the shows. Shizuka gives him a big bunch of flowers.

- Time for draws!
Shizuka, Kozuka, and Akiko are on the ice with holding microphones. They pick tickets stubs for prizes.
There are four prizes each show and a few more in the last show.

It takes unnecessarily long but it is also very funny, like Kozuka and Akiko imitating the pose of Dai in the poster, faking Shizuka's Ina Bauer (bending forward, and they do it only when Shizuka is not looking), or all of them often forget what to say next. In one show Akiko told us how to practice boob shaking for belly dance.

In the afternoon show Kozuka slipped of the tongue and called a prize "fresh memory" while it was a flash memory. In the evening when he said "flash memory" rather carefully and the crowed gave laughs. Apparently many of them were also in the afternoon show ;)

This year there is another special draw : Kozuka's program.
One of the crowd (chosen by Kozuka) would pick a ball from a box and in the ball there is a piece of paper read "EX", "SP" or "FS", which tells the program Kozuka is going to skate in the second act

In the afternoon show when a lady in the front row is about to pick a ball, the crowd started shouting "Free!!" and she did pick up the right one!! Kozuka's expression to the pick was  Apparently FS is not easy pick for Kozuka.

BTW reportedly it was FS on Friday, and SP in both shows on Saturday.

In the last show, he tried to let the audience choose the program by raising hands or clapping, instead of the draw. Then Shizuka said "let's ask Kozuka's fans!" and there they are; Miki, Daisuke, Takeshi, Yamato, Yuka, and Ilia(!) suddenly gathering at the ice entrance, raising hands, and demanding for Free Program
After Kozuka reluctantly accepted it, Miki said "Taka-chan, daisuki!" and the "fans" left

Kozuka: "this is rather like a public skating camp than an ice show."

Then Zamboni break.
