The Polish doubles team beat the Bryans

After saving 3 MPs in the 2nd set, too!

And Tomas Berdych won too :cheer2:

If Roddick can beat Djokovic in 2 sets he can still make it. As long as Berdych loses in straights to Nadal (which is likely).

If not, the only thing Andy will have to look forward to is the pool party. ;)

Hope Djokovic's eye is doing better.

 Roddick tirading over some flashes in the stands. More than a decade on the tour, and the guy hasn't learned to not let things get to him ... nor to refrain from acting like a 13 year-old when things "do" get to him. That's my Andy! :P

But, yeh, ARod is still in the mix -- if only due to the likelihood of Rafa over Tomas in 2 sets is very likely, and Andy over Nole in 2 sets is a decent (let's say 20%) possibility.

Serena, still hobbled, withdraws from the Aussie Open. (www.cbssports.com/tennis/story/14351376/serena-withdraws-from-australian-open) Terrible news for the equally hobbled WTA, but good news I suppose to the other would-be AO title challengers.

I couldn't be more :blah: about who's atop the women's game, Elena's retirement, Venus' insignificance, and Serena's withdrawal (love her or hate her, she brings the drama and the POW! to Slams). Heck, Kim is all who stands in the way of the WTA being at least temporarily dead to me.

If it weren't for the men's tourney running with the ladies, I doubt that I'll even follow the ladiezzz results at this year's Australian Open (until the final if Clijsters were in it).

I'm shocked. She sure withdrew early, but I guess she knows enough to make a decision. This is good news for Justine, if she returns in January. For Caroline and Venus too. I would call Kim the favorite at this point, but not a prohibitive one.

Venus wont win the Australian. She has only been past the quarters there once in her career and it was way back in 2003. Kim is the heavy favorite now. She would have atleast co-favored with Serena even if Serena played. Justine and Wozniacki are the next 2 strongest contenders for the title. Barring a miracle it will be one of those 3. Nobody else really close, probably Stosur, Azarenka, Zvonareva, Venus, Sharapova, Ivanovic, Jankovic, Kuznetsova, Petrova in that order after that.

Rafa is in! And since he offed Berdych in two sets, the scenario for the last semifinals spot is :watch: ... and the math is easy. Djokovic advances if he wins a set versus Roddick, today (starts soon), while Roddick advances if he defeats Djokovic 2 sets to 0.

The Nadal-Murray semi is tough to call. It is hard to see either Roddick or Djokovic beating Federer in the other semi though.

Djok at set point........

AndyRoo, come home. I've got turkey and stuffing leftovers waiting for you....

 Well, that's that. All there is to play for now is to win the match and at least get some rankings points (ergo, finishing above Ferrer for the year).

ARod had a BP in Nole's first service game ... will never know how Nole would've played if Andy had grabbed it.

Any predictions for the semis? I see Federer going through Djokovic without too much problem, and Murray upsetting Nadal in 3 sets.
