Also, according to the commentators, if Nadal wins this, he will be the first since Laver
(1969) to win 3 Grand Slams in one season. Laver won all 4 in the same season.

If he wins this, he'll obviously have an opportunity at the Australian Open in January to hold all four Slams at once. Wish I could be there in person to see it (I'll hopefully be there for the 2012 Australian Open).

That would be phenomenal if he could do that. :rollin:

Well that point just summed up this match. The one where Rafa went up 30-0, 8th game of 4th set.

It is amazing to think that 2 men in recent years (very recent) have completed career slams. You could say it is indicative of the state of the mens game but I do not think that is the case, I feel like the mens game has been competitive. Could you imagine if Nadal and Federer came into their top form at different times, say Nadal was 5-10 years younger. I have no doubt that both would have won calendar Slams and I still think Nadal can do it.

:cheer2: Rafa! :cheer2:

So thrilled for him. I couldn't even watch the first few sets, too nervous for him.

Just like Federer, Nadal is a champion for the ages. To win a career grand slam at age 24 is simply amazing.

Congrats to Rafa, but did anybody else think that the coverage of this final was treated badly? I know CBS planned to have it all done before prime time, but I think they should have picked it up on the network after the rain delay anyway. All they were showing tonight was reruns.

I'm just glad that the match was over before 10:15 so that it didn't switch to ESPN Classic. We barely got to see Rafa hold the trophy before switching over to football.
