I hope Djokovic can beat Nadal in the final tommorow but I am not betting on it. I think he would have a great shot if he were fresh but the least fit player in the top 10 going to 7-5 i n the 5th the evening before tommorows final? I will be surprised (I hope). As for Federer 66 unforced errors for him, 21 in the 1st set and about double the errors to winners most of the match. Still nearly won but his unsightly slide to retirement seems to be accelerating still at this point. The only good news for Federer is he is saved from the slaughter he was going to get from Nadal in the final. Djokovic even tired actually has a much better chance vs Nadal than he does, and considering Federer as usual these days wasnt even playing well he would have really got stomped on.

:( Federer. I wonder if he'll ever win another major.

:encore: for Djokovic.

I still think Rafa's on his way to his first US Open, but what a performance from Nole!

Wow, was never a big fan of Djokovic or Federer but definitely rooted for Novak today. So much heart and skill. Fed's serve was so off for portions of the match - very strange.

OTOH I think Roger might've had more gas in the tank for tomorrow. I'd been having trouble getting into the tennis this fortnight. But this match is an example of why I've been watching the sport for decades - since Mac the brat's era.

And speaking of him - I discovered today that if I press my SAP button to the second audio channel I hear the stadium noise but no commentaters. :D

That's brilliant :respec: If we can effectively turn off Dick Eneberg, that would be amazing. He has to be one of the most biased commentators out there. I can't stand his exaggerations.

I wonder if the SAP trick will work for Sandra and Scott? :sekret:

NOVAK! :respec: :cheer:
I'm so happy for him. Finally taking chances and winning against Roger. I honestly think he can win tomorrow; he has a good record against Nadal on hard. I had plans and was nowhere near a TV, and I was checking the score on my phone when it suddenly died midway through the final set.

Sad that this couldn't be the final, though :(

As for tonight, I'd be happy with either girl winning.

Vera can be so good at the net :D

She plays a lot of doubles, apparently, thus why she is good at net.

Vera's a doubles slam champ and has made at least 2 other finals

GUH, Vera's coach :grope:

:cheer2: Nole for coming through that excellent semifinal, and for  taking 6-1 and 6-2 sets off of Federer in the process. Wowsers.

And :cheer2: to Rafa for getting Nole in the final just ~24 hours after said excellent semifinal. Nadal is thisclose to completing his career Slam ... things seem stacked for him.

Kim/Vera has looked inevitable from the start. And there it is, 6-2 for Clijsters.

Can't see the Russian turning it around. Yeh, the Venus/Kim match seemed much more finalesque than this one. Too bad for tonight's crowd. But great for this Kim fan ... and, yeh, Kim herself.

LOL - I was at Mids, watching the men's LP and keeping an eye on the phone at the same time...and it also died before the end of the fifth set. Gah. Recharged it enough to turn it back on as soon as the event was over, and was

I like Nole and hope he can put up a good match against Rafa in spite of the short amount of time...but I really really want Nadal to get that career grand slam. I'm so proud of how he went from being King of Clay to being a top player on all surfaces, and thrilled he's in with a great shot!

Looks like yet another crappy women's final, sigh. :( I agree there's a good chance it won't be primetime anymore, I think it started being so when the Williams sisters had their first finals match against each other and we're just not in that era anymore.
